SMU Jr. football recruiting for 2008

Junior Day at SMU: 116 studs
Rivals Jr. Day: 312 studs
All on SMU's beautiful campus and stadium.

First, let me say that SMU does a great job at hosting this event and I want to give special thanks to SMU recruiting coordinator Eric Roark, who is one of the nicest and most genuine guys in this business.
Overall, it was a very solid turnout. Hell, the first three guys I saw today were RJ Washington, Jermie Calhoun and Dan Buckner. Let me just go ahead and give a quick report on each of these guys to get started.
I did the heights and weights for everyone there, except for these three because they showed up at the event before I did. All heights were done barefoot.
Washington – I believe he checked in at 6-4, 245 pounds, which is amazing because his frame doesn’t look like it’s carrying that much weight. Kind of scary actually. He will not be going to any Junior Days because it looks like Stoops has told him not to come within a ten-foot pole of Austin. His recruitment is going to get interesting at some point IMO, but I’m not sure if Texas will ever be a player.
Calhoun – Tipped the scales at 6-1, 210 pounds and he looked every bit as good as you might envision. Will visit Texas on the second junior day. Not much else to report right now.
Buckner – Very impressive looking kid. I think he checked in at 6-4, 210 pounds and he actually looked about ten pounds lighter than Washington when they stood side-by-side. I think it will shock everyone is he doesn’t commit to Texas tomorrow.
OK, let’s move on to those that were there that will be coming to tomorrow’s junior day and future junior days.
Chancey Aghayere – After seeing him today, I’m not sure that he’s not the best player in the state. He was every bit of 6-4 and he was in the 250-pound range. Easily the most impressive looking kid there from a physical standpoint. Will visit UT for the second Junior Day and played things pretty close to the vest. A&M might be the main competition at this point.
Joseph Ibiloeye – I heighted him at 6-3 on the money and I believe he was a shade over 200 pounds. Great kid, very engaging personality. Really likes UT and I think Mack is going to love his personality. Was wearing a Cookie Monster t-shirt that was at least 4XL.
Keanon Cooper – I heighted him at 5-11 ¾ if I’m not mistaken and he will also visit Texas tomorrow. Mentioned that he doesn’t know how he’ll react if he gets an offer, but didn’t rule out a commitment. He said he honestly wouldn’t know how he would react. None of the Skyline kids have visited Texas at all, so they really don’t know what to think about UT or what to expect.
Alfred Dupree – I can’t remember what I got him at in height, but it was either 6-1 or 6-2.. not 6-3. Will be in Austin tomorrow and listed OU as his favorite/dream school.
Spencer Reeves – I think he was right at 6-0 (just a shade taller than Cooper). Listed A&M as his favorite. Will be at UT tomorrow.
Cyrus Gray – Kenny Hayter look alike. Came in at 5-11 and was rock solid. Will be at the Junior Day tomorrow. A&M is the chief competition, but he said he has no favorites right now. Didn’t sound like he was in a hurry to make a decision.
Tommy Dorman – Very nice kid. Didn’t sound like he was expecting an offer tomorrow from the Longhorns and I’m not sure how he would react if he was. I’ve been told that he would jump on an offer, but he sounded like he was far from that place. Listed A&M as a school at the top of his list right now.
Ok, those are the main guys that will get your engines going. Other very good prospects that were on hand included Devin Smith, DeAundre Brown, Jeff Fuller (very impressive looking….checked in at 6-4), Ivan Delgado, Lamar Harris and Daymond Patterson among others.
