Is that what got the Mustang Club Stallion-bashing thread deleted? How weak. I think the Mustang Club really should create a gelding level for people like me who do not want to pay but just want to come to happy hours and eat their cheese and crackers.

The cost to the university for a person in the M -Club is about $50. The muliple mailings cost postage and the material. The 4 billings sent just to get the 50 dollars, cost. The lets say you do show up and eat some cheese and have a few beers ( remember this is at Hotel Cost )

The M-Club does not come out so well.

50 dollars in inclusive but not profitable. I was shocked to find out how few people give a thousand dollars. You would be too.

Donors that I call every year range from 50 to 3000. I do not know many people that can give 3000 but a lot are around the 500 mark.

Go Mustangs.

Who caused the thread to be deleted?

Not me, but I did respond to your question about promoting your non-participation in the Mustang Club with a hypothetical based on the experience of one new member as reported here. I hope you got a chance to read it before it was taken down.

I think 50 bucks is just right for the Mustang Club. Average out to 13.6 cents a day. Money well spent. Anything more would be inflationary. End of thread coming. Must be deadly serious on this board. Lack of seriousness could cause the program much trouble. The boys are looking good, recruiting is going great. The coaches are wonderful. All is glorious with SMU. Bucsh library is coming even if HP doesn't want it. Little Miss Sunshine is the Vegas favorite to win the Academy Award--honest. No SMU thespians in the movie. Couldn't they have thrown in Kathy Bates or Morgan Fairchild? Go SMU. We need a point guard fast.

I didn't. Could you retype?

By the way, I have a theory that someone who will go unnamed (not you!) will throw some serious name calling on any thread that embarasses him or clearly proves him wrong, thereby bringing the thread and his eternal shame to a swift end. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

You asked, rhetorically I suspect, how it helps anything to come on here and promote your non-participation in the Mustang Club. Never being shy to answer a rhetorical question, I observed that someone recently posted about having joined at the $50 level and after some extended period of time, had received zero acknowledgement from the MC regarding his joinder. I hypothesized that based on this experience, somebody else could come on here and take the position that the reason they will not join the MC because that shows they do not care about you unless you join at the $5000 level. Now, if having read that post on here, some third person MC major domo went back to the MC and instituted a change that got an immediate response for even low-level online joiners (and how hard could it be to generate a "welcome to the Mustang Club" email), then a post promoting a person's non-participation would have had a positive effect on the Mustang Club. Whether it would get the non-participator to change his mind is anybody's guess. Read this fast before it gets deleted again.

You have a point. And one point in Stallion's favor is that, as he pointed out, he did not choose to publicize his nonparticipation.

I get lots of mail for my Colt sized donation. But then again, I live 1200 miles away, so they're safe in knowing that I won't be eating much of their cheese and crackers, or going to their luncheons or pregame parties. I do have a nice plaque hanging on my office wall however that gets nice comments.

The fastest growth unit of the Mustang Club is the "dead horse" catagory, those that have unfortunately passed and those that have grown tired of waiting for a first class program and have given up!
