interesting there are 3 Five Star players from Texas that have committed and all three have comitted to OU. UT has 4 from the Top 100 but none are 5 stars. Stoops has been beaten pretty soundly in recruiting by UT in recent years but seems to be making a comeback.

Nonsense. UT is pretty much finished and after getting Tre' Newton, I'd like to know if there is a better RB in this state. I think Mack will be pretty pleased with his class.

Tre is a good running back, but he can't hold Sam McGuffie's jock.

This kid is one of THE most amazing high school running backs I have ever seen...and he will be a senior this year at Cy Fair.

5'10" 190 pound white boy....

I think the world already knows about McGuffie however he will won't play RB in Div 1. Newton is a power back with good speed and definitely the better choice at that position.

Well now we truly are the only school in Texas without a commitment.

Celina lineman commits to North Texas

Celina’s Troy Franklin (6-5, 278) said he orally committed to North Texas Tuesday night. Franklin, who plays on both sides of the line in high school, said he will play offensive tackle or center in college. North Texas’ first-year coach Todd Dodge played a big factor in his decision. He has also received offers from Tulsa, Iowa State and Colorado State. Franklin is listed in SportsDay’s Top 50 recruiting list for the 2008 class. Oral commitments are non-binding. The first day a football recruit can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 7.

North Texas has two commitments-another one from Willie Taylor of Dallas Hillcrest who was also offered by Tulsa. generally they don't get ANY commitment until December. It's going to be interesting to see what Dodge can do with a full year of recruiting.

I guess we're screwed in recruiting. Let's just forget the 2008 signing day because we already have stunk up the joint.

Yeah, McGuffie is too small to play RB -- just like Drew Brees was too short for anybody but Purdue.

Either way, this is discouraging for SMU and Bennet... We should be picking up guys earlier and competing with the better programs, we are not doing this....
