At least for the recorded past in the Rivals database.

2004 Recruiting class - 4 before the season started.

2005 Recruiting class - 1 before the season started.

2006 Recruiting class - 2 before the season started.

2007 Recruiting class - 4 before the season started.

2008 Recruiting class - 7 (at the moment) before the season starts.

Something's improving around here.
