Rhonda said in her most recent basketball blog that she was almost finished recruiting for the fall. Any ideas who she might bring in?

BTW I also noticed that Leah Starr and Chelsea Tiner are missing from the roster this year. Anyone (the XTC?) know what happened to them? Just curious.

Leah Starr almost did not come back last year, so this is no real surprise, and Chelsea Tiner did not finish the year with the team.

With all due respect to those two, this year's team is loaded and they wouldn't have gotten off the bench except in 40-point blowouts. Good luck to both of them in whatever they do.

I still haven't seen anything on potential new recruits particularly that center that played with Hill last year who was supposed to be one of the top recruits in the state. Anyone heard anything?

The word is the stud ex-teammate of Hill's is probably headed to Baylor. I've read that the women's team has three commitments - a kid out of Kennedale who averaged 26 points a game last year, a post player out of Mesquite and a guard out of Marble Falls. I did see where another top prospect out of Marble Falls chose Baylor over SMU. I believe all three commitments are first-team All Staters and are ranked high on the TexasHoops top 100 list.

If Rhonda could start to snag a few from Baylor's women's program that would be incredible.

Committed yesterday to Rutgers - a huge step up over Waco High.

Kudo's to Don Imus, no one heard of Rutger's women's basketball before that episode.

People in the women's basketball world knew Rutgers before that idiot created headlines. He doesn't deserve kudos for anything he has ever done.

Don Imus is a very funny personality that made a terrible mistake for about five seconds of his life. He can atone for it, as well, in time. As backasswards as it may be, he did bring an awful lot of attention to the Rutgers basketball team for good reasons. Because as soon as he made that slip, the next several weeks were spent discussing what wonderful things the basketball team did on the court. And that is a good thing, as it should be.

Count me among the group that knew and knows very little about women's basketball. Honestly, I had no idea they were playing for the national championship when it happened. While shooting himself in the head, he also did a service to Rutgers and NCAA womens basketball. He was wrong and it was a stupid thing to say, but it did bring about positive things.

Those positive measures were mostly taken by other individuals, but in the end, the Rutgers team was recognized by many, many more people for what they had accomplished on the basketball court.

I used to work in an office where my boss — and subsequently the rest of us — listened to that guy every morning. I don't recall chuckling even slightly .... once. The only person in the office who liked him was my boss, and he said it was on because he couldn't find Howard Stern. Calling Don Imus "funny" is, in and of itself, a pretty funny statement. It's like saying The Ticket is a sports radio station.

There are a lot of folks who don't like Howard Stern, but at least he's funny sometimes. Imus is a real prize — the guy has been on the radio for decades, and all most people know about him is that is a sexist, racist bigot. Woohoo! What a personality!

Different strokes for different folks. The man was employed for over 30 years by WNBC, and in that time did some pretty successful charity work with donations. Guess at least one or two people out there found him funny enough to keep him in a job that long.
