The June Jones Model does it Again-if he hasn't enrolled maybe we can change his mind

Jameel Dowling, a defensive back who played at the University of Oregon, has transferred to UH.
Dowling, who is 6 feet 3 and 202 pounds, is enrolled at UH. He will redshirt this year and have a season of NCAA eligibility remaining.
Dowling, who can play corner or safety, played in 11 games for the Ducks last season.
He is recovering from an ankle injury. Pressed to play this season, he decided instead to seek a release from his Oregon football scholarship to allow him to redshirt.
"I really like it here," Dowling told The Advertiser this morning.

So what exactly were you trying to say here Stallion? Were you sarcastically saying we've got our new wonder coach, the model's been changed and we're still missing guys like this?

He's holding SMU to an even higher standard than before. The old shell trick.

I think he's talking about the fact that this guy was transferring to UH, and JJ could possibly bring him with him...

Little cynical today, eh?

Oh you can be sure I EXPECT Division 1A Transfers now based on both THE JUNE JONES MODEL and the Model f/k/a the Stallion Model. No excuses now. They might take awhile to develop but based on all the propaganda spouted at the Press Conference I certainly EXPECT them, I'll make sure and report on all the exciting developments under the JUNE JONES MODEL.

Why the constant references to "The June Jones Model"? Stallion was very vehement in his assertion that June Jones a) wouldn't come here and b) wouldn't be able to recruit here because he's used to targeting different athletes than those previously capable of being admitted here and he recruits different guys anyway since he's on the island.

No that Stallion was absolutely wrong on point a, I think he's saying we (everyone on the board except him) got our guy, partially due to the SMU changing its model...now let's see JJ work the magic all the sunshiners says he can...Stallion's also leaving himself an out just in case JJ does succeed. He will then say the model has changed and success was due to the changes, not to JJ whom he said, remember, couldn't recruit here. sorry if my argument's not clear, gotta get back to the real world

also so he can again assert coaching has nothing to do with winning. he'll say JJ's guys won because the model changed, not because his coaching helped in any way.

i hate to say this but I agree with Stallion more than not, his caustic attitude wears me out. nonetheless, he serves an important role in pointing out our major flaws that i hope are corrected. btw, i agree talent's more important than coaching but coaching's still important

May I ask you a question? Have SMU's prospects for football success increased in the last few days? If you believe "yes they have," can't you please just lay off for a while? It's getting really really old.

Yes I've said numerous times that June Jones is a very good coach (I think at least 7 times) and the best hire since the DP. Never once said he wasn't a very good coach. Sorry, you have trouble with logic-but now that SMU has vouched for the June Jones Model and everybody on the dais unanimously agreed that SMU is nationally competitive for player recruitment and June Jones said that SMU now allows the Head coach to recruit the types of players he is "familiar with" then obviously based on his track record SMU is going to fill up on its share of JUCOs and D1A Transfers.

"familiar with" and "identical" are not the same thing.

And I don't think Jones is stupid enough to come here if he did not agree to whatever policies are being put in place for recruiting. The main reason I can say that confidently is because if he was just selling out and coming to SMU for the money, he had UH in a perfect place to get a nice raise in the last hours. It is also nice that it wasn't just Ford who paid for Jones to come, now we have 19 other big wigs who have a big steak in this hire who can ride the school to make sure that Jones gets what he needs to win.

And again, "familiar with" and "identical" are not the same thing.
