I can promise you this that no matter what the stars on rivals say, Vincent McNeil JR. can play football and is a great athlete he has lead his teams as a QB since he was on the 8 and under boys and girls club they were undeated champs. Then and it carried over to junior high when he was in the 8th grade he lead his team to City Champs. He's been a state champion in basketball and lead his team to the third round this year. Both he and Quintell Soloman will be good pick ups for SMU.

Roy - did your sign sign with K State out of Bakersfield? I'd have to think JJ would love a shot at him

Unfotunately both getting a thug rep and considered grade risks. Roosevelt absolutely looked liked a classic thug school against Gilmer and rep not totally undeserved.

Pre-season Tom Lemming rated McNeil 3 stars and said that he had the athletic ability to play FS at the next level. Has a quick burst, good decision making ability, balance and running skills. He played a little FS and is known for his physical style of play. He accumulated over 1,500 yards in total offense at QB and his GPA was over 2.5 according to Lemming.
6-2, 185, 4.5

2.5 could be borderline because remember you've got to get your core GPA in 14 core courses and then you apply the sliding scale. Just a guess but I wonder if these kids have taken a qualifying test since there is very little info on them on the recruiting services. Can't visit until you at least take the test. No visit and the recruiting services don't track the players as closely. Here's the sliding scale and other initial eligibility information.
