2009 Highest Rated QB in the country

Postby papawasamustang » Mon Jan 14, 2008 9:46 pm

I'm not sure what type of magic the Jedi can pull off with this yrs recruiting class since he's getting such a late start locally. However, the attachment points out that we have a chance for some huge talent upgrades over the next couple of years.

I realize this is next yrs recruiting class but it is exciting that we have a HC that can attract this type of talent. Pipe dream? Maybe. But it will be fun to follow this kid & see if JJ can get him to visit Big D.

As we all know, JJ does have a proven track record of having his players go to the next level. Something even the HC in Denton can't claim.

I find it hard to believe that he started regularly until his Junior year, given the pass totals. Looks like a timeshare at best.

I mean, I guess it's possible that they just opened up the offense and he went from throwing 17 times per game to 31 times per game. Just smells of a timeshare or a change in offensive philosophy. Guess it could be the latter if he really developed into a passer his junior year.

Who knows. I'm just still at work and wanted to think about something other than work for a minute.

Santa Ana isn't a whole lot different from South Central LA. Mater Dei = private school in the middle of the bario.

Right, so he is already used to the situation.

Does Mater Dei play in the same weak conference as Jimmy Clausen's team did?

Mater Dei is in the Trinity League with OC powerhouses Orange Lutheran, Servite and Santa Margarita (Carson Palmer). All solid private programs.

Jimmy Clausen played for Oaks Christian HS in Westlake Village (Thousand Oaks/north of LA), which is a private school in the Tri-Valley League. They play nobody.

Please, they're one of the best athletic programs in the country. A few years ago when SI ran an article on top 25(or so) high school athletic programs in the country they were ranked fairly high. There are some awesome teams in that league.
