The following from the Dallas Morning News.....great to hear!
As for recruiting, Jones said a few players will visit campus this weekend, but most will come in the following weekend.
Jones said SMU is looking hard at local players who had previously orally committed to other schools. Some Hawaii recruits might also follow Jones.
"A lot of guys now have an interest in SMU because I'm here," Jones said. "By the time it's said and done, we're going to steal some guys who can play."

But where is Nostradamus to tell us that we have a self imposed 4-5 year probation b/c of our hiring process?
Back off Warchild seriously.

Nostradamus will say that statement was negated by the adoption of the "June Jones Model" which was of course, Nostradamus' idea in the first place...never wrong, never loses an argument, never makes an inaccurate opinion. Gotta love him, just wish he and the others who were predicting an unmitigated disaster would fess up. We were all a little worried but if you're taking a calculated, needed risk, don't be a chicken little...

There is a difference between talk and confidence, and Bennett, IMHO, got a little lazy about recruiting. He delegated, and whoever he delegated it to would only pick from the SMU camps for talent. The glaring exception was Justin Smart. And believe me, getting him was dumb luck. If it weren't for the fact that he was late or somesuch on the first go-round of the ACT, he'd have gone to Okie State and Bennett would have never heard of him. Then Bennett goes and puts him at defensive end even though he's outweighed at best by 55 lbs. WTF?!

PB just got overwhelmed with everything it took to be a head coach. Mike Vaught basically babysat him for the last 2 years. PB just couldn't keep it together. He was a great guy, but the workload was too much.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

I sympathize with the guy b/c I know he didn't fail here for lack of effort. I know I personally couldn't handle being a college football head coach. Especially here. This may very well be the most difficult coaching job in America given our history after the Death Penalty. If JJ can restore us to at least a moderate level of success, then it won't be viewed as an impossible task by the next guy. I think he's going to do just that.
Back off Warchild seriously.

That certainly smells like Fuller. I wonder who else they're bringing in?

sounds like some of you are taking victory laps before we get our first commitment and with 2 1/2 weeks to go until signing date. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt because he is diggin' out of a deep hole. Hopefully, we can get some of the kids SMU and Hawaii previously contacted but this ain't going to be a walk in the park. Just finding an open weekend for recruits to visit is going to be tough. Traditionally, real recruiting wraps up with the weekend visits ending in just 10 days. Very few schools are getting top kids to visit on the last weekend unless they are playing catch up like a school in SMU's position. Great year to open up the doors to as many Division 1A transfers, second semester JUCOs and late qualifiers as he can find

I agree. I think next year will be the real barometer of how recruiting will be Jones tenure.

I disagree... IF this year's class is anything less than a shipwreck, I'd say that tells us a ton about June Jones' recruiting.
