Mesquite Horn b-ball

Postby LA_Mustang » Sun Jan 20, 2008 4:32 pm

Not sure if any of you watched the Mesquite-M. Horn game on 21 yesterday morning, but they have a couple of interesting prospects:

PF - Sr. Quincy Acy (6'8" 200) who is a stud in the middle. He can score, rebound and block shots. He has to be one of the top seniors in TX. They said he is considering prep school next year, so grades are likely an issue??
PG/SG - Sr. John Bowman (6'4" 200) is everything we are missing in a guard. He can handle the ball, create his own shot and finish. He is committed to Texas St., but has the skill to play in C-USA.

I know we only have one ship to give out and it will likely go to a JUCO guard, let's hope, but we have to get a Bowman type player on this team asap and Acy would be a great get in 09.

I know we need an experienced point guard and I hope Doh will find one. If an extra ship were to appear I hope Doh goes after the kid from L.D. Bell, Marshall Henderson. A 6'1" junior shooting guard who averages 23.5 points per game. Plays AAU for the Dallas Mustangs. A 3 star Rivals recruit. According to RIVALS, he has medium interest in SMU but no offer. He has offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Marguette, Notre Dame, Stanford and Gonzaga among others, all of which he has medium interest.

Acy is big time. I have mentioned here many times that he is the #1 local player that is an impact type of recruit that can change your program & I hope Doh is camping out in Mesquite.
The most impressive thing about him is he is ranked in the top 20 of his class academically.

Also, I still hold out hope that Jedi pulls a surprise in DeSoto (Gray).

Don't hold your breath. Cyrus Gray doesn't even have us listed in his top 8 schools.

If grades are not an issue with Acy, why is he going to prep school next year? He is obviously ready for the college game.

For the exposure. He's a top talent, but the people whispering in his ear are telling him he'll get more offers and exposure if he plays a year at one of the basketball factories. There is probably a little to that, those teams get scouted by everyone, but Acy is good enough that most schools will see him anyway. He doesnt have to go, but the increased level of competition may help his game, and he'll get more exposure.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.
