Starting a new thread based on the lead by SCOOPS in another thread who claimed he enrolled over the weekend. I believe he was a greyshirt at Hawaii.

I have heard the term grayshirt used before, but I have never heard the definition. I know what a redshirt and a medical redshirt are. Could someone define what a grayshirt is?

it means a freshman scheduled to enroll at midterm after sitting out the fall term. Usually, it is used when a team runs out of scholarships but still wants the kid. Often utilized with players who have been injured or perhaps need time to physically mature.
