If we managed to get Jamal Mitchell.

He has the size and speed, and experience at DB and RB.

Jamal was really banged up his SR year and his totals reflect it. He is a very smooth runner and gets 4 yards when you think he got nothing. Unfortunately his stock dropped rapidly as the season went on.

That would absolutely make my day if we got a kid from Lee.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Does his running style remind you of Dickerson? As I remember ED used to look like he was walking and would pick up 10 yds. or so.

Obviously he isn't as big as Dickerson, but the kid runs almost effortlessly. Good to very good speed, but he really struggled after a foot injury.

He has a Bennett offer and a high interest in SMU according to Rivals. Wonder if he is on the visit list?

That link is to a story that was written in July, so to suggest things might have changed would be a monstrous understatement.

With that said, however, I talked to a friend in Tyler who knows this kid's family, and said he still likes SMU. Didn't have a recent update as to how MUCH he likes SMU, or where we stand in his pecking order, and this conversation before I shared the note from PonyFans about how Mitchell's coach got all bent out of shape, so maybe it's all moot now. But the word I got was that he still likes SMU.

Well, the job of recruiting him has just gotten a LOT tougher since Jones reneged on the scholarship to Dews who was from Tyler Lee. His coach isn't going to make it easy if we are interested. :?

his coach may or may not have much to say about it. i wasn't a football player in high school but none of the players i know would have given a lot of weight to what our football coach said about where to go to college. and june jones isn't going to let the dews business stop him from recruiting anybody there he thinks he wants and may get. week moral suasion is about all a high school coach has to offer anyway. they are not kingmakers out there and no college coach needs their annointing before they can recruit at a school.

committing and decommitting works both ways, every year, and the most legitimate kind is when a coach is fired. everybody knows the incoming coach HAS to have the option. otherwise, he may have a whole raft of players that may never play in his system. about 5 more minutes and we'll not hear of the dews business anymore, as unfortunate as it may be....and if he can play, he can play somewhere besides smu.

He still lists SMU as his favorite. :) Hope he comes here. Not to [deleted] off Owens, just because the guy is a very good athlete that could play RB or DB.

I would think we are way beyond the coach in being able to have contact with this guy and his family. I would be surprised if we didi not have all his numbers and email.
