Bryce Lunday the 5-foot-8, 176 pound Athlete out of Sheridan, Arkansas has decided to commit to the SMU Mustangs.

The kid is a hoss, who accounted for 1450 yards rushing, 6 yards per carry, and 13 Touch Downs while helping to lead the Sheridan Yellowjackets to their first winning season since 2000 with a 6-4 record this past season.

When asked why he chose SMU, Bryce responded "SMU was the only school to offer me a full ride. I tried holding out to see what else I could get, but then Coach Jones went to SMU, and that sealed the deal. I really liked the facilities as well at SMU."

When asked what about Coach Jones made him decide to commit, Bryce said "He is a winner. Look at what he did with Hawaii. He turned them around, and I believe he will be a winner at SMU as well."

Bryce plans on taking his official visit on Friday, February 1, 2008.

Bryce went on to talk about his plans for playing for SMU. "I just want to go down there and contribute at any position they need me at. It is all about winning. I don't care if I only have one catch as long as we win."

Can you help us out a little more on this guy? Is he going to play WR, RB, on the defensive side of the ball, etc? Why did he only get one offer? Small school, late bloomer, etc? 5'8" and a 4.51 forty? How did Jones find this kid? Thanks in advance for the info.

He also had Arkansas, Tulsa, South Carolina, and a few other big D1 schools looking at him, but none would give him a "full ride" like SMU did.

We at Rivals have him listed as a Athlete, because he can be used anywhere, and he told me in the interview that he will play wherever the team needs him most.

Thanks. Didn't see the post on the Recruiting Board. Thanks again.

The numbers he put up were in 6A ball, where Arkansas has 7 Classifications. They played some stout teams.

Maybe Garrett can speak to this,

This would appear to be a kid that could be used as a third-down back, catch passes out of the backfield, slot receiver.

And speaking of Sheridan, I drive through there all the time to get to Pine Bluff. It's halfway between I-30 and Pine Bluff on Hwy. 270. I think the school is right next to a church. And I think all of the grades are on the same campus.

Edit: I just read the other thread on him so my perception was correct. And I was thinking Wes Welker as well. A role player.

Kevin Faulk is a role player.

Wes Welker is far more than than.

Relax...trust June.

I'm fine with it. Maybe Wes wasn't the best example.

Comparing this kid to Wes Welker is totally unrealistic.

When reading some of the news on this young man the thing that really sticks out to me is that we are the only school to offer him a ride.

I hope he is great ! Face it, he is a long shot.

More than one Mustang alum, including yours truly, tried to intervene with Bennett to offer Welker. Both with strong Oklahoma City connections. Bennett declined.

As it turned out, Welker's one and only offer was from Tech.

Think about it.

Again, be smart. Trust Jones.

Agreed. If our talents lyed as a football coach and talent evaluator, I think we would mostly find ourselves wanting. Have faith in JJ.

Surf's up in Dallas!

Wes was playing long before Bennett got to SMU??? He was at Tech after another scholarship player backed out and he got the nod in 1999. that was the Cavan era.
