What is left...

Okay, so I looked down the current roster of scholarship players to see what our needs are...

WR: We have a decent number of outside guys (over 6'), but not a lot of slots. We also have several TEs that may move to the outside in the new system. Needs: 4. We are done with Beasley, Drewery, Ellison, and Lunday.

RB: I think we are going to end up playing guys like Henderson at both RB and slot receiver. We need at least 2 more RBs on the running back, and we picked up Lee and Whittington, who are going to be the same type guys as Henderson. We are missing one big back.

OL: We have 11, I expect to carry 15, so we need 4. Emshoff, Huallou, and Robiskie are on board, I expect one more to be signed.

QB: We only have three on the roster and we know Jones likes 6. Already have Mitchell and SMith, wouldn't be surprised to see one more.

The defense is a little more tricky, because I don't know what formation we are going to run.

Defensive line: we have 13 players on scholarship right now. I would like to see us pick up 3 players.

At saftey, we only have 5 guys on the current roster. Will pick up at least 2, possibly 3 players. Have Banjo, so 1 or 2 left.

On the corner, we only have 5 on the roster. I highly, highly, highly doubt you will see us sitting in a 4-3 a whole lot in newer schemes. I would look at a lot of nickel and dime situations. I expect us to pick up at least three guys. One of those is Robinson, so we have two more left.

At LB, we have a lot of need, but not as many spots to fill because we won't stay in 3 LB sets as much. We could take up to 4, but I think 2 or three is more likely. Line and Odiari are already in, so that leaves 1 more.

Jones brought the offensive guys in last weekend because he knew he wouldn't have the defensive coordinator yet. This weekend will be mostly about the defense.

1 RB, 1 OL, 1 QB, 3 DL, 1 S, 2 CB, 1 LB. That would put us at 25 scholarships. If extra players are taken, I would not be surprised if they are athletes that can play in the secondary or wide receiver.

I would consider the secondary by far our greatest position of need at this point in the recruiting process.

We definitely need some size at the DT position.

I bet we add one more.

Um ... what?

I would bet on at least one more. I hear Hualulu is being recruited as a defensive tackle.

Maybe. Doubt it, but if a stud becomes available, then yes, but I don't see him signing someone just for the sake of signing someone.

I agree, but the rumor mill suggests slim pickings at the moment. I bet we get one DE and one DT, unless a late surprise emerges.

Victor Jones, I hope?

Anyone know if they plan to grayshirt any guys? If so ... who?

Scout had us looking at Theo Goins (6-4, 285 DT) out of Sugarland (no, not a teammate of Banjo though), but I have no idea what's legacy from Bennet, and what's actual interest anymore. Maybe Guru or Stallion has a line on him though.

It appears from the rivals blurb that he committed to UCF back in July. Lot could have happened since then.

Oh, lets see. Got a new coach. Seems to have made a difference to a few others.

No, my question came up too slow, the "Why?" referrenced a Texas player going to UCF in the first place (should have been one post earlier), not the possible switch!

No problem. I wonder that too.

If we already have 15 or 16 commits, how many do we have left?

I am going to guess that they will expect some attrition from our current team, so that a larger class then you would expect might emerge, especially if they think some guys are left at the end. They might also leave room for a couple of stragglers/transfers. 20-23 a couple of weeks after Feb 6th would not surprise me. QB transfer later in the year from a level down would also not be surprising.
