I am certainly no expert, but I could not agree more. For some reason I expected some sort of shortcomings but the kid looks pretty fanastic. In fact, in regards to his speed, once he gets to the corner he distances himself from the DBs further. Count me as someone excited about EJ coming to SMU.

Hint No. 1 why he wasn't more highly recruited-there are no football stands in the background and fans stand around the stadium grass. He's running away from everybody but what level of athlete is he running away from.

I like the "stadium" where they have house pretty much on the field!

Agreed he is playing against weaker competition, but if Junesy believes in him, I'm sold.

Until we lose a lot.

HOLD THE PHONE!

Just noticed at about 8:45 into the video he scores a 2 point conversion off of the swinging gate!

To bad we didn't have him under the last Specail Teams Coach.

I agree with you Stallion but I would think that you as much as anyone could look at that tape and notice the kid is fast and athletic with some of the cuts the kid makes regardless if he was playing against 5A schools or a girl scout troup.

4.45 runs away from 4.46 no matter who is chasing you.

I've said several times he looks like a good prospect. I don't buy reported 40 times reported by Coaches-and prefer to rely on speed results from track competition or verified camps-I couldn't find any for Drewery. Burley was reported by some to have at least 4.5 unverified speed too. I believe he has average speed for a Division 1A WR prospect, but hopefully he's a leaper who will be able to really take advantage of his height. My biggest concern is that when he did play at a larger school as a Junior he reportedly played "sparingly" (quote) although I think that may have been affected by an injury for several games as I remember. I like to know a little more about the circumstances during his Junior Year.

He could be running between cones - the guy looks the part.

Good wheels, and he looked pretty good at going up and grabbing the ball at the highest possible point. If he's good at that, there's no defense for that.

Mike Williams' speed dropped to 4.5 to 4.6 when he put pads on at USC...but he could catch anything near him, and there wasn't a DB under 6'1" who could cover him worth a damn. That 6' 5" height, good routes, and hands that would make mrydel blush are definitely useful in this game.

The level of competition was obviously weak but his cutting ability and speed was still amazing. A great athlete will always make inferior talent look lame.

That kid can play but it looked like he was playing Highland Park's freshman B team every week. Some of those kids had no business trying to cover him.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Well even though the competition didnt look that great I will say that if there is one reason JJ signed him it would have to be because of his tools. I don't know about anyone else but I like 6'6" WRs who can run, jump and catch. However it will be interesting to see if he holds onto the ball when D1A DBs and LBs are bearing down on him. If he can do that then I think we may have a great one.
Larry Brown? We have Larry Brown? Cool!
