recent 4 or 5 star recruits at SMU?

With this talk of All-Americans and star ratings I was wondering.......in the last ten years, how many 4 or 5 star recruits (based on Rivals) have we had? I can only think of two:

b-ball:
5 star - Hop
4 star - none
*I know Dez was a 4 star outta HS but he was a short-timer on the Hilltop.

football:
5 star - none
4 star - Mosley - and never played

Am I leaving someone out?

LA,

I wonder how many 5-star FB players have signed with non-BCS schools in the past 10 years. That has to be a very short list.

BB on the other hand is a different story. No reason we can't compete at a much higher level. Memphis can do it, why can't we?

I believe Steve-O has answered this question. National Coach of the Year in BB, now at SMU. National Coach of the Year in FB, now at SMU.

The problem is, this has only happened in the last 2 years. Give it 4 more.

You're right. It would be a very short list. But schools like UTEP, TCU, Fresno, UH and So Miss have gotten players rated 4 and 5 stars out of HS through the JUCO route.

UAB just got the #5 rated player in the 09 class to commit - 5 star PF. As you said, Memphis has a roster full of 4 and 5 star players. UH got that Dowell kid who transferred from UT...he was high 4 star out of HS. I'm sure there are many more cases in C-USA and Mountain West.

I post this only in response to this comment. I am not actively looking to raise ghosts. I have heard it said by Shady's AAU coach, first hand mind you, that he was seriously coming to SMU before Tubbs got fired. Hearsay? Yes. Firsthand hearsay? Yes too. Word was his grandmother really preferred him close and had a big say in it.

I think it worked out better for the kid to go to Kansas. He is having a stellar career and SMU would have done nothing for him. He would have done alot for us.

Now, is it possible that said AAU coach is bitter at SMU and has concocted the story to twist the daggar that much more? Maybe. But either way, the fact that the guy would say it, at a high school playoff game no less, tells you what the burgers and cheer debacle did to this program. but the real shame is SMU has done very little to help repair the damage done to this day. There doesn't seem to be a quality Dallas prospect in sight at the moment for SMU, DISD or Suburban.

Tell me Hoop. Do you honestly believe that? I for one do not. If he was staying close it was Baylor. If he was really intending to come to SMU before Tubbs got fired he and his handlers sure had an interesting way of showing it.

I honestly believe that SMU had a realistic shot at Arthur during the early signing period and that that shot evaporated with the disappointing second season, "scandal" and Tubbs' firing. Never thought it was a done deal but the preference of his GrandMother is pretty well documented.
