Other offers were from Georgia Tech, Tulsa, Arizona State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Utah, among others. The other four stars are QB Casey Paschall(Rivals) and A.J. Dugat(Scout). Tough day for a lot of Texas schools. Tech, BU, TCU, SMU, etc shut out. Lokey & Griffin left waiting from UT and UH sneaks in with the highest pick. Okam drops like a rock, Sweed & Charles no where close to where expected and obviously Tommy Blake's mental illness scared teams enough he isn't even the 1st FA from TCU signed (award goes to LBer Hawthorne).

Did Blake sign anywhere? I saw Ortiz and Roach signed, and Hawthorne .... what about Phillips? (Isn't that the linebacker's name?) Did he end up some place?

Suddenly TCU gets 3 four star commitments and very early?
Time to start following the money. What's their recent history with four star commitments? I'd be surprised if they've averaged more than 1 every 2 years and they were probably academic risks...

Phillips is a JR this year. Roach, Bonner, Ortiz & Hawthorne sign with Blake making the rounds (at Tampa bay today).

TCU really has played up the new facilities and not just football, but campus wide. basically the school is totally revamping its physical structure and it is impressive. The indoor practice facility has helped a lot also and having the Nike Camp & Elite 11 regional there doesn't hurt at all.
Money definitely driving a lot of it, but money well spent.

I agree, I heard they were really playing up the indoor practice facility.

TCU has had this ridiculously stupid strategy of pretending like no body else knows who they are recruiting-so their commitments were not revealed sometimes until later. Its feed this idea that TCU somehow finds great players in cabbage patches. This year TCU obviously has realized that they have stunted their own recruiting momentum by pretending to hide recruits-it doesn't work. Yes you sometimes will find a few nuggets hidden away in Bugtussle-but recruiting momentum is more important and for the vast percentage of top players everybody and their grandmother knows who they are these days. Unless of course you are recruited from the bottom third of the recruiting pool.

This could turn out to be a real banner year for TCU.
Even if they are successful in obtaining only a small
portion of the uncommitted quality players that are
rumored to be seriously considering them.

TCU lost out on one of their top targets when "The 4 star Beaver" committed to Michigan today. They already have one 4 star QB committed
