The new scout.com team for SMU is really doing good. They have been on the phone making a lot of calls evidently. Here is their a post from one of the new guys at Scout.com.
Per James Bryant at Scout.com.
I have personally confirmed with 26 HS prospects that they have received official offers from the SMU coaching staff.
Two recruiting stories will be later today, including one on Will Ford of Abilene Cooper HS, who got an offer just last week from SMU.
Chris Frazier from Dallas Skyline also picked up an offer Thursday from SMU.
This coaching staff apparently is not affraid of offering big time players who have committed else where. Some of those names include Thomas Ashcraft (Texas), Ivory Wade (A&M), Mason Walters (Texas), and Dexter Pratt (LSU).

This is great!
SMU probably won't get many, if any of these guys...If it does I'll be pleasantly surprised.
But at least this coaching staff is trying to get into the mix with some better regarded TX HS prospects as opposed to only going after players who come to the SMU camp or resigning itself to not aiming high.

You can't catch fish if you don't bait the hook

If the kids have expressed interest then the offer makes sense. If they are just throwing out offers that could bite you as time goes by because it cheapens the value of an offer from the school.
I do not know the particulars on these kids, but offering late to someone such as Pratt who is a solid to LSU and does not look to be wavering just seems silly to me.

Now that is the kind of insight we've come to expect from your many posts.

I completely agree but I can't imagine JJ and his staff being that liberal with offers. Perhaps Pratt is wavering on his commitment? The early offer to Frazier is an interesting one. He is a talent....hopefully us offering first will make a difference.

The offer may not have been late. We may have offered when LSU offered but he just went with LSU and the offer may still be out there.

he was probably thrown an offers since his brother Markus played here "at the turn of the century". Think he flunked out. I don't think we have a chance in hell

I doubt very much that JJ cares about someone's brother that a former coaching staff recruited.

he probably does if he's one of the Top 10 players in the state.

After comparing his arrival to SMU with his first arrival at Hawaii, JJ said the line at SMU was not as strong. I like to see us going after what they noticed we needed to strengthen, O & D line. You never can get enough depth at those positions.

I hate to disagree...but there is some reason we have made such offers...never silly to the coaches or they would not make such offers...Like buying a house or car...you never know when someone will accept or have a good reason to reconsider...Better to offer and get a bite than not to offer at all...Go Mustangs!!!

Exactly my point, he received an offer based solely upon his potential and talent, not a relationship between a brother and a former SMU coach.

26 offers yet we only know about 10 names. I want all 26 in a list.
