I like this quote:

“There were three main things I looked at. One was who wanted me the most, two was who needed me the most and the third was where I could make the biggest difference and the biggest impact at the fastest,â€

...the tag line said he had family in Dallas. Anyone know what he meant? Does he have relatives or was he just speaking of the team, etc.?

great news to say the least. this is a much, much needed shot in the arm for Doherty. It is funny however to see how some of you who were still maintaining excitement about the current freshmen class taking us to the promise land (Big Dance) have now gotten a new toy. The fact is that this program was not looking up with the guard play we saw last year no matter how young and Doh has already "recruited over" certain guys. Last year was a false start all the way around.

Last year's recruiting class of 7 produced what appears to be a minimum of 4 rotation players. Dia (potential high scorer next season), Malone and Harp (both potential starters), and at least one of Nayakundi/Walker/TK. However, none of those guys was a guard who can break his opponent down off the dribble and create his own shot. Doherty went out looking for guards that can do that as a result. McCoy is a great pickup and I am also excited about the pickup of Williams.

If you are able to in one recruiting class get a stud low post player then in the following get a stud ball handler while filling in the remaining sports with solid starters/rotation players then you are doing pretty good in CUSA.

The kid runs on the 4x100 meter relay team and is a silky smooth WR as well. This is a major signing for SMU.

first team actually...

McCoy (5-11, 175) was also a first-team all-state selection in football as a defensive back and is the first player in ten years to earn All-State honors in both sports in class 6A in Oregon.
