SMU CB signee Deyon McElroy recently clocked a 4.32 forty. JJ almost has a 4x100 meter relay team in the secondary. Here is a quote from him and the link to the full story.

“I don’t get beat deep…period,â€

That's true, but if this guy was 6 feet tall and runs a legit 4.2, he'd be choosing us over offers from Florida, USC and LSU. Methinks the stopwatch is a tad quick in this case, although I have no doubt he has nice speed.

From my undersanding he clocked the 4.2 after he signed with SMU, so there was no way for Florida, USC or LSU to know. JJ, having a good eye fopr speed, studed his video and liked what he saw. I remember JJ saying after he saw the video that it almost looked like McElroy would bait the QB's to throwing to his receiver.

The best official time I could find on the kid was an 11.86 in the 100m. 4.2 is world class speed and would not just show up one day, if he was a legit 4.2 guy people would have known.

Where did you find 11.86? Please post the link. An 11.86 would equate to about a 4.7 or lower 40 and I believe he is faster than that, unless you typed 11.86 by mistake and meant 10.86.

11.86 his SR year in HS. That was two years ago and yes I think he is faster than 4.7, but probably closer to that than he is to 4.2. You don't suddenly post a 4.2 out of nowhere unless either someone completely blew the time keeping or it just didn't happen.

Again, 4.2 is world class speed. For him to even claim such really has me shaking my head, especially since he hasn't been anywhere close to that previously. Either the reporter typed in something wrong or somebody is lying out the arse. 4.2????? Do you really understand how fast that is?

Again where are you finding this 11.86. Please post the link or tell us where you are getting that information. At any rate, it may very well be a 4.42, either way it will be good enough to shut down a frog.

4.2 is doubtful. That would make him one of the fastest men in the world. Keep in mind, Jerry Rice ran a 4.6.

No way he ran an 11.86 100 either. He could run 110m faster than that.

Says he ran a 10.3 100 here:
http://smumustangs.cstv.com/sports/m-fo ... yan00.html
and here:
http://stanford.scout.com/2/435665.html

Mid 10s here:
http://ok.milesplit.us/athletes/52991

I'm sure that 10.3 was close to the best in OK that year... not "world class" but certainly a great time for a HS kid.
