Here is an update from PonyStampede.com

CerDerrick Tyson of Evangel told me earlier he had committed to SMU, he called back and said that his offer wasn't official until Coach June Jones returns from out of town. Therefore I'm not going to write a story until it's official, CerDerrick will call me back when he gets the official offer.

Running back CerDerrick Tyson was the Class 1A state championship game Most Outstanding Player as a freshman. This is an account I found on Tyson;

5-foot-8, 185 pounds – might keep some suitors away, he is tremendously productive and versatile. He shined as running back, and even quarterback, as a freshman and sophomore. Last season he was key target in the passing game. As a junior he accounted for 1,400 total yards and 16 total touchdowns. He is already academically qualified with a 3.0 and a 20 on the ACT.

Statistics Att Yds Avg TD No Yds Avg TD
2007 (Jr.) 121 771 6.3 12 66 650 9.8 4

From Dandy Don's LSU Recruiting News

Cerderrick Tyson
RB, 5'8", 185, 4.5

I also talked with Cerderrick Tyson (RB, 5'8", 185, 4.5). Tyson is receiving a lot of mail from Vanderbilt, Alabama, Florida, and Ole Miss and would like to take official visits to LSU, Florida and LA Tech. Tyson made All-District, All-City and Honorable Mention All-State as a junior. Tyson did not have his 2007 stats in front of him when we spoke. Tyson will attend a Nike Camp in New Orleans this Summer

Dandy Don has hom ranked No. 30 prospect in the State of louisiana(tied with C Joey Fontana). Not bad for a talent rich state like Louisiana

How nice the guys over there have to make themselves part of the news ("... told me...") - sad.

Anyway, the pictures of this kid are impressive - muscular dude.

Glad to get in the door at Evangel Christian.

And 66 receptions out of the backfield - has nice hands, I guess.

This Louisiana Recruiting site has him listed as the No. 14 player in Louisiana

I think what the guys at Scout are doing is great-and if they are the ones going to the camps and tracking this information down then GREAT-and its about time.

Yes, they are doing a great job, and guys like you who pay for that stuff appreciate their worth already. They don't need to remind you. You said it yourself - you read their story and appreciated their work. The "look at me!" attitude is very Lee Corso-ish (and no, that's not a good thing).

He was explaining the source of his info - I don't think that's "look at me!".

I don't know - I'm with SMUguy on this one. All he has to say is "Tyson said" rather than inserting himself in the story. PonyFans.com doesn't do it, the Dallas Morning News doesn't do it, the Washington Post doesn't do it. A small matter, I realize, but seems petty to do it that way.

I believe in this situation, this was not a news release but a post on a forum with people conversing back and forth.

Hope they are right!

I would assume that's high up on Coach Jones' list of requirements for any RB he recruits.
