Here is a pretty positive detailed Scouting Report on Atchinson.

I heard that the coaches are really have a high opinion of this young man. The article says his currently 6-3 280 and very athletic. Where is BUS, he will really like this. Welcome Chris.

I like this quote from ESPN:

Devastating down blocker that can deliver a powerful jolt then pin the defender inside. Athletic when pulling; excellent technician in terms of footwork and turning upfield. Smooth and agile when on the move; has good balance and body control.

Apparently, Atchinson was a key in the success of 2008 Texas A&M recruit Cyrus Gray. Here's a report from one of his best games:

Arlington, Texas was the site of an offensive show put on by Rivals250 running back Cyrus Gray of DeSoto, and senior quarterback Ben Sherrard of Arlington (Texas) Lamar. Gray would finish with 298 yards rushing on 30 carries and five touchdowns in DeSoto's 40-28 victory. Sherrard broke the Lamar Viking record for passing yards in a single game with 363.

The 6-0, 190-pound Gray did most of his damage after the first quarter while lining up at both quarterback and running back. His most successful runs seemed to be around the left end behind the blocking of junior offensive tackle Chris Atchinson. The 6-3, 280-pound Atchinson was very light on his feet, and very adept with using his hands and arms to manipulate defenders

Rivals has him verified at a much smaller 6-0.5 256 at an event on 2/2/08

I saw him a couple of weeks ago at the SMU camp with the other lineman and he is definitely not 256, more like in the 270 to 280 range. He must have put on some weight since February. Great commitment from a local kid.

Listed as a Top 25 Offensive Lineman by Texas Football(note they have him at 6-4, 280-a good example of why you shouldn't believe unverified reports)

also made the Texas Football Third Team Offensive Team as an Offensive Lineman.

Well-now I'm not sure-Scout claims to have the following verified information from an undisclosed date. Either he grew or perhaps one of these sources is a publishers error.

Location: Dallas
Height: 6-2.5
Weight: 254
40-Yard Dash: 5.41
Short Shuttle: 4.59

The guy from PonyStampede said, he stood beside him at JJ's camp, and that he is at least 6'2 to 6'3, and between 270-280. Good enough for me. Welcome Chris!

DeSoto is an absolute factory of great football players. Having Wilkerson and now this guy can only be a positive thing — would love to see a bunch of DeSoto players head our way.

In past years, #21 in the area has translated to #60-#65 in state. That would make Atchinson our highest ranked Texas recruit since 2004 - Vincent Chase #50 in state
