Servite Kicker Commits to SMU

Postby SMU 86 » Thu Jul 10, 2008 2:52 pm

Mrs H also said that he is a really good kicker. Now he will be joining Evan. Looks like we are starting a Servite connection.

Michael is a fine young kicker. He has a great leg and gets outstanding lift on his ball. Huge Kickoffs (65 + Yards with 4.1 + Hang Time) Best kickoffs in the nation. Outstanding potential.

Chris Sailer's camp, where that picture was swiped from, is basically considered the premier kicking camp in the country. Loftus was named one of three kickers with the "best future."

Do you think he's a scholarship kid or an invited/preferred walk-on??

After having Morstead save our collective bacon more times than I want to count, I'm the last to question taking a kicker... But I'd sure like to see a couple of our last remaining ships go to a "franchise" QB, a RB, at least one LB, and maybe another DL.

Hard to argue with this kid's credentials though.

Morstead was a walk-on. I don't think we could've been more lucky for him to come to SMU.

Hopefully he'll rub off on this kid before he leaves to play on Sundays

I think it is a good use of a scholarship. Redshirt this year and our kicking game is in great hands the 4 years after that. And again, I think we will probably wind up signing 19-20 kids. Things aren't the way they use to be. These coaches will do what they have to, to get who they need.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

Sounds like a scholarship guy, according to the Rivals story.

Mike Loftus

So glad to see that Mike will be at SMU. He's a wonderful kid and a heck of a kicker. Evan will be happy to know about this too :D

So that is for kickoffs, correct? Any word on his punting?

Glad to have him!
