I am struck most by the comments of his O-line coach at Mater Dei in suggesting SMU as an option. Feels good to read this. I hope he's as strong in college as his career at Mater Dei. I think I recall him on a televised game. Kid was all over the field.

Robert is a fine addition to the Mustang Family. It's so nice to see OC kids getting the opportunity to attend and play for SMU. Good things are going to happen

He is a preferred walk-on.
Coaches can not talk about walk ons until after they have enrolled and started school.

Anyone else read that story and think he's could become a poor man's Wes Welker?

At SMU, wouldn't he have to be a rich man's version?

Considering Welker went to Tech, and this is SMU, wouldn't the correct term be "a rich man's Wes Welker?'

Damn, beat me to it. This is what I get for not taking my laptop to class and posting during lecture.

Actually, no. Welker grew up with big cash, went to an exclusive prep school - part of what some think limited his recruitment, because not only was he a small guy, many assumed he wouldn't perform except against prep school-level kids. Safe to say he proved a few folks wrong, huh?
