Personally, I think it is great. I want C-USA to upgrade from top to bottom. I think JJ will take care of business here, and I want the other schools to get better as well. It can only be good for us if they do.

Heck, the way UTEP is going they might as well go after the WR from OU and the 2 DT's from Penn State that were released.

Looks like Mitchell just didn't like living out of country. This is a great pickup for the Miners but you do have to wonder what happened up north to get him to change like that.

quite frankly as a low 3 star at 5.5 Mitchell was one of the lowest rated prospects over the last several recruiting classes at OU. My guess is he wasn't good enough at OU. Doesn't mean he's not a great prospect at UTEP though.

Josh LeRebius is/was also rated 5.5 for a frame of reference.

I want to see CUSA get better as well, UTEP is now over 21,000 season tickets sold. With all of the BCS transfers they have got over the last several years, it seems like they would be better than what they are.

OK, (the following is a generalization) the reason most of these guys leave their BCS schools is probably because they are not getting any playing time. I would hardly classify them as "TOP" BCS transfers. That's not to say they weren't highly recruited players, but then why aren't they getting playing time?

Because all of OUs recruits are Top Recruits. Their worst recruits are more highly recruited than 95% of SMU's recruits. OU's leftovers would almost always be among SMU's superstar recruits-Recruiting is relative your competition.

historically speaking, how do these transfers play out? I seem to remember the RB from UCLA, Tyler Ebell not doing much at UTEP or the RB transfer they got from Arizona who was a Parade All American out of high school.

How about Stallions favorite WR Fred Rouse?

That just begs the question...they may have been "Top" recruits the first time around, but they ain't playing...does that really translate into "Top" BCS transfers? What's the chances they are just plain ole busts? (Once again a generalization...I'm sure there are exceptions, but then which ones?)

here's a big suggestion. they aren't high school recruits anymore, top or otherwise. they have additional semipro job history. they usually aren't all conference players where they were. maybe we can just call them bcs transfers.
a further observation is that that the transfers we have gotten in recent years, apparently not "top"bcs", haven't had much impact on the team. (i'm sure that's stallions inferred point to the rest of us, inferior, unwashed, and sunshiner.)
but, with all the "top bcs" transfers at utep over the last few years, they haven't dominated cusa, which they should have if they all were really "top" tansfers. admittedly utep has beaten us most of the last few years, but then so has rice with very few "top bcs transfers" and most of the other cusa teams.
seems like if there's a reason to expect a transfer to be a real cusa standout, we could call those players impact transfers or possible impact. every tansfer to a nonsmu school isn't "top". "top" high school recruit or not.

Blah! Blah! Blah! the Three Wise asking questions-as if haven't chronicaled the exact information they are puzzled about over the last 10 years. I really would have no problem with very easily coming up with about 20 key Division 1A Transfers who were essential in leading their teams (SMU opponents or conference mates) to Championships and/or bowl games since the last time SMU went to a bowl-not to mention very essential to beating SMU into the ground like the 408 yards in Total offense UTEPs Division 1A Transfers pounded SMU with last year. Not to mention the BCS Transfers that have played key roles in June Jones' success at Hawaii. SMU BCS Transfers haven't dominated the team because they weren't highly recruited or respected recruits in the first place-most were in fact walkon transfers. But ignorance of facts is sublime to some so their own [deleted] sounds good.

Yeah...that's pretty impressive...their "Top?" Division 1A transfers provided all but 150 yards of UTEP's 558 Total Yards. HOWEVER, we only lost that game by 3 points and put up 516 Total Yards without the help of any "Top" Division 1A transfers. How did we manage to keep it that close with such power houses on UTEP's squad beating SMU into the ground. Let's face it, last years defense didn't slow anyone down...Division 1A transfers or not. How about another exciting example?
