Found this in the Huntsville Alabama paper-Damn Good Offer List:

Bawa to prep school: Former Madison Academy basketball star Bawa Muniru - who has completed his high school eligibility in Alabama but has more work to do academically - has enrolled at Charis Prep in North Carolina.

The 7-foot Muniru said he needs to complete five core classes this school year to meet NCAA requirements. He said he has offers from UCLA, LSU, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Western Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana and SMU.

"I am looking for somewhere I can go and fit in and be able to produce," Muniru said. "I want to help the program win so I can go to the next level."

This would be a great addition filling the Bamba void.
Papa is a PF imo & we need a legit big man.

You gotta give Doherty some credit-he is working his [deleted] off trying to get the BEST talent. His is in the Recruiting Ballgame-hasn't always won his batttles but he is competing for top level guys. I'd like to see more of this in the Football program where we haven't been a factor for the Top 125 players or so players in the State of Texas for 20 years

I really feel its just a matter of time before Robo lands a bigtime recruit. McCoy was an excellent pickup as was the GT transfer, Faye.

A recruiting class of Bawa, Will Cherry & Nick Russell or Tim Frazier would be outstanding. Keep an eye out for a couple of 6'8 kids that have been under the radar but now have surfaced as legit prospects, Corey Garrett & Javier Carter.

I agree with Stallion that Doherty has been working his [deleted] off on the recruiting trail. He is a bulldog. I think McCoy was a huge get...I can't wait to see him play this year. But as I always say, we need a 2 who can score the basketball.

papa, what else can you tell us about Garrett and Carter?

I agree that we really do need a 2 or 3 to emerge as a legit scorer.
Not sold on any of the returning players to consistantly put the ball in the hole, maybe Malone. Can't predict what RN can do since I haven't seen him play yet. Looking forward to seeing what Otis & Haynes bring to the team.
Garrett & Carter are 2 kids that had outstanding summers & are being heavily recruited. Also read about another 6'8 kid named Devonte Elliott out of California that we have offered. RoBo is hustling & I really believe we will see big improvement beginning the 2nd half of the upcoming season when Faye & McCoy are making solid contributions.

What are our roster needs in 09? It seems like we are hot'n'heavy on PGs again, which only makes limited sense. Don't get me wrong, Will Cherry is a baller who we should grab, if he wants to come, but we need a back to the basket big or two. Hopefully, we get Bawa. The African connection should help

Same roster need that we have had for the past I don't know how many years. An athletic scorer from the 2 or 3 position that can create his own shot at will. The difference now from past years is that we actually have a talented and rather deep roster to surround that scorer with.

With that said, I'd still be all over this Bawa kid as I'd be foolish to not want him.

These are our 11 scholarship players for the 2009-2010 season, height, position, and class standing that season:

Derek Williams 6'1 Guard SR
Mouhammad Faye 6'9 Forward SR
Ryan Harp 6'4 Guard JR
Papa Dia 6'9 Forward JR
Mike Walker 6'0 Guard JR
Tomasz Kwiatkowski 7'1 Center JR
Alex Malone 6'8 Guard/Forward JR
Paul McCoy 5'11 Guard SO
Robert Nyakundi 6'8 Forward SO-RS
Frank Otis 6'6 Forward SO
Justin Haynes 6'4 Guard/Forward SO

That leaves us with 2 scholarships to use this recruiting period for the 2009 season, assuming all those players return (which may not be the case).

To me you look strong at PG with a Senior and a hopefully stud Soph. We will have exceptional size for CUSA being bigger than any opponent other than Memphis- including Dia and Faye who will be forces as upperclassmen. We have the deepest most athletic roster we will have had in recent memory. Our most glaring weakness is a guy that can really create his shot and fill it up from the outside. Get that guy and that is a post-season team.

I have seen many kids really develop from the frosh to soph year.
This was a VERY IMPORTANT summer for the development of all the frosh including RN. I'm most interested in seeing Malone since I believe he has the most upside next to Papa. RN is the mystery man since we haven't seen him play. Williams & McCoy are the keys to the team improving a very challanged ball handling situation the last 2 years. If they can handle the rock, defend, assist & score like I hope they can than we have a entirely different looking team.

And the Maag kid from Houston too. I didn't list them because they aren't scholarship players (as far as I know).
