Postby Stallion » Sat Sep 06, 2008 3:09 pm

Rivals has just released the team rankings-note that these can be somewhat skewed based upon how many commitments a team has:

SMU-67th

CUSA
1. Tulsa
2. UCF
3. Memphis
4. SMU
5. UH
6. ECU
7. Rice

TCU is ranked 36th

Hold for Average Per Recruit

Average Per Recruit

1. UCF 2.43
2. UH 2.23
3. ECU 2.17
4. SMU 2.13
UTEP(only 1 recruit)
5. Rice 2.00
6. Tulsa 1.73 (maybe somewhat skewed because 2 players not yet rated-should be around 2.07
7. Southern Miss 1.60(same as Tulsa 4 players not ranked-should rise)

TCU-is No. 37 at 2.92

Its really hard to say since points depend so much on number of commitments. Generally on signing date we have ranged from 80-105. Top non-BCS schools generally finish in the Top 55-60 although sometimes a TCU, Southern Miss, BYU, Utah, or UCF jump higher. Southern Miss was 37th last year which is very very high for a non-BCS team. TCU is primed to have one of the Top non-BCS classes in years-easily the Top Non-BCS Class so far. SMU right now is the No. 9 non-BCS ranked school. Caution-most non-BCS schools have very few commitments so that could change especially if we are close to done. The best way to look at these rankings is to blend them and throw out high scores based almost entirely on unusuallly large classes. You want high points, high average per recruit and a large number of studs-when you rate high in all 3 rankings then you've got a nice class.

Didn't So. Miss have some shaky qualifiers in last year's class? How many of them made it to campus this fall?

Stallion, as the season goes along, don't you think our rating (could) go up, as some of our early commits get more offers? Example Chris Atchison.

Yes its happened almost every year several get upgraded-3 already have this year. another guy is Padron who nobody had much game tape on since he played behind Riley Dodge-SMU took a gamble-it could pay off. Depends on how he does this year and how many teams come after him.

Also as the season progress some teams lose recruits some gain better recruits. If ECU keeps winning they will mostly likely gain better recruits.
