Another Frazier to SMU?

Postby SMU 86 » Thu Sep 18, 2008 4:26 pm

Basketball prospect Tim Frazier from Strake Jesuit is considering SMU. He is good friends with SMU football commit James Scott.

Frazier had a very strong summer, and he's hearing from alot of mid-majors and a few bigger schools. He says education is a top priority (Harvard, Stanford and Rice all seem to be legit possibilities), but I dont think we are really high on his list.

He's a point guard who can distribute and find his own shot. He has a very slender frame, though, and he needs to put on some muscle or he will get beat up at the next level. He played for Houston Elite this past summer, PonyDoh might have seen them play in Vegas (not sure if he still lives in that area).

Frazier is a three star on rivals and scout. Has a long list of offers to some decent schools. Obviously, a pretty smart kid with the ivy league interest. I love how Doh is addressing the point guard postion, we desperately need some athletes that can handle the ball.

From the article it sounds like SMU would be the favorite if offered. Pretty nice replacement from Dubois and this kid obviously doesn't have the same problem with competition.

How do you figure we're not high on his list? He comments that SMU would be the perfect situation for him - that seems pretty legit.

I didnt read that comment, I dont have rivals. If he said that, great, but my impression was that we werent. That was this summer, and he was planning visits to other schools with no real strong interest in SMU. Maybe that's changed.

yeah this is the first time I've heard we were so high on his list too although we've been on it for awhile. Sounds like the James Scott connection may be a factor. Also he said SMU hadn't been recruited him as hard as they had been earlier-until recently.

Frazier is a nice player to fall back on if some of the other recruits don't work out. Nick Russell from Arlington is another pg that would be a great pickup for us.

Evidentally we weren't recruiting him hard until Dubois decided to back out of his commitment. Doh, obviously, wants another guard!

This kid has an offer from Stanford, a Top 10 school last year, and says SMU would be the perfect situation for him???

Gotta love what Coach Doh is doing.
