Interesting that SMU has 16 commits and is ranked #51, while TCU has 14 commits and is ranked #49...that is promising.

Which proves without a doubt that Scout doesn't know what they are doing. If anybody contests that statement-I'll be happy to compare offers but it would likely be very embarrasing to SMU. Conservatively, TCU's recruits have 3-4 times more reported offers than SMU recruits. SMU is about 70th in Average per recruit.

TCU-14 Recruits
Total Offers From Other Teams 64
approx. 4.5 per recruit
Total BCS Offers 41

SMU-16 Recruits
Total Offers From Other Teams 24
1.5 per recruit
Total BCS Offers 8

Offers From both Schools-TCU 3 SMU 0
Texas Top 100: TCU 5 (Nos. 27, 30, 41, 52 and 66)
SMU 0

Quite frankly some of TCU's recruits are so highly recruited you would have to do more than just search their Rivals Profile page to come up with all their offers and several are blue chippers who committed in February who without question would have received many more offers.

Man what I wouldn't do to be the 70th best team in college football right now....

hey, actually 70th might even make a bowl!

If Stallion thinks we are 70th, that is good news.

There is something to look forward to. 8)

Rivals ranks SMU 69th for 2009. Last year's class was ranked 90th, so, using the best availble marker (Rivals) JJ's recruting is showing progress.

which I think I have fairly called "modest improvement" from where we generally are. Hopefully we can hit on some bigger recruits with our remaining scholarships.

Maybe we can get a top 50 class this year or next. I personally think Padron will be upgraded and McDade may start out with a pretty good rating as well. We will see.

This is really the key, isn't it. It's nice having a coaching staff who can really coach. But really, it's about talent, and getting enough it in key spots to make a go at it.

The thing that worries me about all this is the defense. We know that JJ is going to attract offensive recruits because of the numbers they can put up in the offense. But what about the defense. Personally I think we are going to have to go the JC route in a big way initially. At least until we start bowling and have something to offer.

We have 3 or 4 scholarships left and I believe we will get some good defensive players. We're going to get'em Mathman! :D

There were some players cut/suspended/both on Monday. Were any of those scholarship guys? If so, that would free up some more to add to the 3 or 4.
