I was looking at our 09 class and I can see a slight improvement in player rankings...we have more three stars in this class than I can remember, but I also looked at TCU...and wow, is this possible the highest rated class ever at TCU?

SMU:
4 stars - 0
3 stars - 5
2 stars - 10

TCU:
4 stars - 4
3 stars - 7 (3 are rated at 5.7...0.1 from being a 4 star)
2 stars - 3

This is very impressive for a non-BCS school....they are recruiting at a Big XII level...just for comparison, here are the Texas Big XII schools (minus UT - they don't count):

Baylor:
4 stars - 1
3 stars - 5
2 stars - 6

TX Tech:
4 stars - 2
3 stars - 13 (4 are rated at 5.7...0.1 from being a 4 star)
2 stars - 1

TX A&M:
4 stars - 4
3 stars - 18 (6 are rated at 5.7...0.1 from being a 4 star)
2 stars - 1

Fat lot of good all those good players have done for A&M, the most underperforming school in the Country without peer. I am surprised by TCU's recruiting success this year to some degree. I suspected that their move to the MWC would be harmful to their recruiting efforts. Are these 4 stars qualifiers or non-qualifiers at this point? TCU is pretty well known for offering some academicly risky recruits in hopes that they will get eligible before August. I don't know if that's the case this year or not.

East,
I believe the JUCO Williams is the only 4 star that had academic issues. The other three 4 stars are HS kids...all with multiple, impressive BCS offers. Their QB from Brownwood is ranked as the 9th best duel-threat QB in the country who had offers from ND, Arizona and Baylor.

It is a very good class and all but one (a 2 star) look to be very solid in their committment to the coaches. The facilities, especially the indoor facility have been a huge plus. Having NIKE do their annual regional in FW has also helped a lot and the IPF is one of the primary reasons they have it on campus.

TCU has some solid recruiters, a growing winning tradition, a coaching staff that promotes the family atmosphere and some very nice facilities and all that has really come together this year. Also since this is TCU most likely Coach Patterson leaves before signing date and the class falls apart.

Which of our 2 stars was upgraded? I thought we only had 4.

To have to think Patterson will get some serious BCS looks this year. He has been a great coach for TCU.
