TCU Maud recruits (Not SMU) MustangLaxer please ignore

Postby mrydel » Mon Oct 06, 2008 8:43 pm

I was listening to an Arkansas radio sports show this evening. First I might mention how similar the problems are that SMU and Arkansas are having. They talk about the exact same things such as youth, new system, QB having to learn to read the receivers and vice versa, bad tackling, thinking and not reacting,no defensive lineman, bad against the run, etc.

However, during the show they were talking about recruits at their game this weekend and mentioned the three big kids from Maud were there. Arkansas is pushing hard to get them and would offer all three together, as would Oklahoma State and a couple of other schools I do not recall.

No message here, just thought it was nice to hear someone else may be concerned about losing recruits to BCS schools also.

Curious as to whether our TCU friendly posters know if there is any concern about wavering.

They're not considering Arkansas. They went up there on their own dime to see Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin.

That is funny since today's paper quotes one of the moms as saying they enjoyed their visit and are considering an official visit at this time.

The words in my post are straight out of James Dunbar's mouth according to Rivals. In the end, who cares?

It is a long time until signing day. I suspect we might lost a recruit or two and pick up some others as well. Hopefully TCU isn't so arrogant as to think they are immune from this. These are teenagers we are talking about.

(Per Rivals) Article Titled: Dunbar Clears The Air

"Let's set the record straight. All three players did indeed visit Arkansas
but it's not what it seems. The young men wanted to see for themselves
what all the hype was about. No, no, no, not the hype of the Arkansas
football program. It's actually quite the opposite. They wanted to
see the Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin show up close and personal. We really wanted to see Harvin, he's really fast" said Dunbar. "It was cool
but we aren't interested in Arkansas like that. I'm stuck on TCU. I love TCU and I can't wait to get there. We're all three solid to TCU".

This rumor was started by some Arkansas writer who simply stated that the "Maud Squad" would be present at the game.

OK that clears it up. You are calling the mother a liar. Thanks.

From the recruiting guy (not a strong indication they will take an official, but there is some hope for Arkie):

Arkansas entertained more than 40 prospects during the Florida game Saturday, including three talented defensive linemen from Maud, Texas, who are orally committed to TCU.

Defensive end Bryant House, 6-4, 265 pounds, 4. 9 seconds in the 40-yard dash; defensive tackle Ray Burns, 6-1, 283, 5. 2, and defensive end James Dunbar, 6-4, 290, 4. 8, helped the Cardinals defeat Ore City 35-12 on Friday night and then had to get up about 3: 30 Saturday morning to make the trip with Dunbar’s mother, Chequita, to Fayetteville.
