From staff reports

The rest of the country is finding out what Carroll Dragons fans have know for the past two years: Cade Foster is one of the best high school kickers in the nation.

A recent article on the Texas Tech football recruiting site, powered by Rivals.com, says Foster is squarely on the radar screen of some of the top college programs nationwide, although only entering his junior year.

Foster has shown long range in his freshman and sophomore seasons. He drilled a 48-yarder and for 45 yards last year, when he was successful on 12 of 15 attempts. His long kickoffs – more than half for touchbacks – consistently provide good field position for Dragon defenders.

At 6-foot-1 220 pounds, Foster also is likely to make his presence felt in the linebacking corps this fall. He earned quality playing time his sophomore season as a middle backer playing behind then-senior David Stoltzman. College scouts say he has the ability to play that position at the next level, too, although most covet him as a kicking prodigy.

The article also says Foster’s lofty status received further validation when he was invited to the Chris Sailer Elite kicking camp, which hosts the nation’s top 12 high school kickers.

Bigtime at both positions? Um .... I expect he'll be told to pick one. Or he'll be told which one has been picked for him.

Glad we have Loftus.
