To me, the loss of Dotson and now Russell this week is 10* worse than anything that happened in Annapolis.
Does anybody have any clues as to who we are now after?

is anyone REALLY that surprised that 2 guys in the top 100 (nearly top 100) didn't end up coming to SMU?? And that they picked lsu and kstate? It would have been such an incredible longshot to get either of these guys. I don't think ponyfans should really have expected anything different.

It is those-type players you have to get to field winning teams. SMU is consistently missing out on the top players and consistently fielding losing teams. How long is Doh going to get around here? He has a recruiting budget and facilities that are among the nicest in the country. It is time to produce and it starts by landing the top players. No more excuses.

I agree.
Come to find out we weren't even in Dotson's top 3 & probably the same for Russell.
BTW, saw this morning where another local player, this one from Plano West, Bakari Smith, a 6'3 sg committed to Baylor. He is in the 2010 class. We weren't in the mix for him but TCU was. Why were we not in the mix for him? Hasn't Doh had enough time to make an impact locally?

Frustrating when u look @ Texashoops 2009 & 2010 prospects & we are hardly in the mix for any of them.
Why doesn't Doh look into hiring someone with good relations in DFW area & AAU circuit instead of promoting his Admin asst. guy to an assistant position?

I really don't get this view that we have to have DFW basketball players. Tubbs was supposed to be wired in and we got nothing from DFW. Doh is realistic, he's recruiting hard all over the Country because he knows that for every DFW recruit there are 10 others as good all over the Country. So far, Doh's recruiting classes have been better than others we've had in the past when we've focused our efforts in DFW. Let's see how they look this year.

I was under the impression that as far as the DFW area coaches were concerned, we had a pox of some sort. Am I to assume that that is no longer an issue? Or is Doh doing his best to work his way through all of that? I am sure Doh knows as well as you basketball gurus know, we need a SG. Wish he could snap his fingers and have a DFW four star sign on the dotted line. Until we start playing post season somewhere, it probably ain't gonna happen.
