In the last 2 days Rice has received commitments from a 3 star pg & a 4 star pf. They also have a commitment from a 3 star sg.
I know that rankings & stars, etc mean very little but this is really impressive. The kid on the link below had some offers from major programs.

Something is happening under Braun, no doubt about it. Tamir Jackson is a great CUSA style player, he'll be hell to deal w/with. Arsalan Kazemi was actually offered by Maryland and a slew of others, unlike J.O. That's a damn good class for Rice.

Braun is a great hire for Rice. He had a lot of success at Eastern Michigan and was also pretty successful in a tough conference at Cal, with 5 NCAA appearances and 3 NIT bids, including one NIT championship.

Let me guess....Rice is outrecruiting SMU in basketball. How many recruits have said no to SMU this season? I lost count weeks ago.

They are recruiting very well nationally, no doubt about it.

Yeah, getting home town hoopster Rogers & although Kazemi plays his prep ball in NC, he lives in Houston(check out his jersey in the attachment on the original post) combined with the other 2 kids gives them a nice 50/50 type class. 2 national kids & 2 local kids.
Would love to see that type of balance here someday.

Kazemi is from Iran, only been here 6 or 7 months. His handler lives in houston, hence the commitment to Rice. I don't think he's spent 3 weeks in Houston in his life.

It cracks me up how some of the people on here want to put Doh on a quota system. Wish they would just let it go and let him decide who he wants and where he wants to go to get them. When we are winning consistantly and going to the dance every year, we will probably be able to get a few from here we want. Until then, I am happy to see the ones we are getting regardless of geographic location.

No quota system, just want to see some of the local talent come here.

Love how some like to blow this topic out of proportion. Bottom line is Doh & JJ need to keep local talent in Dallas.

I agree w/everything you said. It's about players, not locations. Unfortunately, whether you favor local or national recruiting, a class of J.O isn't particularly good. He's a high ceiling kid that could pay dividends, but so far, nothing of immediate impact in 09. Meanwhile, some other teams are loading up in CUSA. We don't recruit in a vacuum.

Bottom line is they both need to win, they could get all the top talent from DFW, but if they can't win, it won't matter.

Quit trying to spin everything like u know everything. He's lived there since Feb of last year. Bottom line, he lives there, he is staying there to play basketball. Unlike an african prospect that recently signed here,
this kid had legit offers from several top programs. Congrats to Rice for keeping him in Houston.
