This isn't a one-day signing period. So please take your hand off the panic button.

I believe the early signing period lasts 10 days. I am sure he will release the player or players he signs when everything is completed. Wouldn't surprise me if JO is the only signee in the early part of the signing period.

Here is why I thought it was 10 days. I was reading an article on Rivals and it started this way:
"Wednesday marks the first day high school senior basketball players can sign a national letter of intent, binding them to a college they will call home.
So what are the story lines to watch over the next 10 days? Rivals.com knows."
Just assumed they meant the peirod lasted that long.

Looking at the list that say they are going to wait and not sign yet, there appears to be a lot of recruiting left for a lot of schools to do. Are there usually this many waiting or is this just a weird year?

Just keep this in mind. On the current men's bb roster, there is only one senior (Bamba Fall) whose scholarship is known to be available for 2009-20. That's where J.O. potentially comes into play here.
Everybody else is an underclassman.
I would suspect J.O. will be the only one in this early period. I don't think we're looking at multiple signings here.
If you want to be active for the May signing period, it will depend on who in the under class ranks stinks it up for the upcoming season and is encouraged to find another place like Cameron Spencer was told to do.
Let's hope the group in place will continue to grow and get the men's BB program back on better footing. God knows it needs to be.

No, no one other than JO.
http://www.ncaa.org/wps/portal/nli has a list of signing days for all sports.
There may be slightly more top players available this year, but it's becoming less uncommon. More guys leaving their options open, contemplating the draft, playing one school off against the other. The top players can always find a home, they dont have to worry about getting shut out if they wait too long, a program somewhere will always "make room" for them, so they can afford to play the game and wait for the best offer. And their will always be 2nd tier guys who are under the delusion that they are worth a bigger school, because they're getting advice from the wrong people. I think there may be a few more this year, but there are some every year like that.
I believe there are actually 2 scholarships currently available.

I think you're right. Just doing the count on the web site, we have 14 on the roster and I think 12 are on scholarship. Maag and Hoge are walk ons?
So using 13 as the scholarship limit, there's your answer. Good catch.
