His senior Stats Rushing Passing
2008 (Sr.) 61 297 6 193 129 66.8 1,550 18 3
Lots of quick, short passes in the video. But he seemed to hit some long passes nicely at the beginning. Seems to me his 5.4 rating is a tad low given his size, the school he comes from, and his accuracy. i wonder if other schools have stayed away because he is so committed to us?

Yeah other schools were afraid we would pull out our winning tradition and amazing fan support to make them look pitiful

they stayed away probably because they have only 5 games of tape on him-zero preseason. SMU took the gamble. SMU had him in their camp. Early indications during the high school season is that it was worth the gamble. He had a very good albeit abbreviated Senior Season-any recruiting service that doesn't consider and modify its rankings based on senior performance sucks. Positives-very good height, very good mobility, very good technique, although I wonder if Coaches would say he may not have the quickest release-looks kinda deliberate to me and gives DBs plenty of time to read the QB. Negatives would be slight frame-he likely would benefit from redshirt year. One thing we don't know is wheather he can read a defense-look at that video closely-unbelievably in about what 40-50 throws on the video he only took his eyes off the primary receiver 1-maybe two times. With so little game experience he might have an adjustment period just based on that long video. With his size and mobility he has greater upside potential. I'll take him over each and every QB that Bennett found in the Clearance Bin (all of which had just about no other options other than Willis). In fact, I think he has bigger upside potential than Mitchell-but I'd rather see him redshirt.

Yeah, I even noticed that he never took his eyes off his intended receiver and never looked at his other options. Seems to have good footwork though. Anyone know how Gamso has done all year by the way?

Both Gamso and Smith had the luxury of RS years. Question is "who will be the backup QB next year?" I assume Padron will RS and that Turner and Smith will battle for the # 2 spot, but I guess we will have to wait until spring practice to get a better read on that.

I don't think Padron would have locked onto receivers so much if Dodge had still been his coach. Wasson simply isn't the same coach that Dodge was there.

I ran into JJ at the Palm the other night and he said he thought Padron might be good enough to play next year. He said he knew after watching him run a few plays in spring ball that this would be his guy.

I'm pretty sure that post had more than a little sarcasm going on
