He must have suxed until Minnesota determined he was worth the risk.

And Jerry Rice went to Mississippi Valley State. He must have suxed back then too for the SEC to collectively turn its nose up at him.

Minnesota will take anything they can get right now.

Actually coach Tim Brewster's 2008 class was around 17th nationally. This current group is running in the 30s with several other slots to fill. Gophers could finish in the 20s.

And this would be the time that I start to pay attention to the class rankings, inside of two months before Feb. 4.

I really never knew there were JCs playing Football in Pennsylvannia. Most of the top JC prospects-probably about 95%-come from the States of California, Arizona Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Mississippi, Texas, Utah, Georgia and other Southern States. Most of the kids in the East go to Prep Schools to get their academics in order.

Supposedly, Minnesota has a new o-line coach who came from Saban's staff at Alabama, who brought this guy with him. Brewster is a good recruiter.

Yes. He came in mid-December because that part of the team was really struggling. His name is Tim Davis. And I think he had some background at USC.

Brewster was hired because of his penchant for recruiting. They got a great QB out of Indianapolis Marquis Grey. He had to leave school in August because his ACT got red-flagged. But he passed it this fall and they expect him to be on campus in January.

He will definitely press Adam Webber for the starting job next year.

Lakawana CC in Scranton, PA is one of the few programs in the state; however, they have been a Div I pipeline for a number of years. You are right that the preponderance of kids in the east will attend prep school. Never-the-less, key PA and NJ non-qualifier kids in football and basketball will end up in Kansas, Florida and Texas JC programs at the recommendation/direction of selected Div.I programs who want them.
