The 6-foot-4, 260-pound prospect chose SMU over offers from North Texas and Florida International.

Wow, we beat out some stiff competition for his services.

What about this knee injury?

This kid was offered by half the world coming out of high school but couldn't qualify academically. The knee is the only question.

Careful. He's three stars and you know what means around here. If his knee will hold up, I bet he contends for a starting spot in 2009.

My point is that if those three teams are all that's left of half the world then it's a pretty big question.

he sat out his second year at Navarro b/c of an ACL/MCL tear. everyone backs off so we take the risk his knee's going to be ok. the gamble is why few others offered. i like the risk here with his potential upside. better this than take a bunch of kids who don't have offers b/c they don't have talent

You're right. Let's hope he's healthy. He's certainly very, very needed.

Maybe with him coming in early we can add 30 pounds on him so he can dominate in the middle. I bet with him going through spring practice he will start next fall, if he gains weight. I wish we had more depth at DT because i would love a 6 foot 4 260 lb end! But even if he didnt gain weight. He would still be our biggest DT :?

Can't start to put on weight until after the knee improves. He has spent the last year in rehab, I would count on another year of strength and conditioning, getting the football back in him, then putting on wieght next offseason.

I think that weight might be a little dated. I read in the interview he did at Scout that he was 280 but liked to play at 275.
