Cedar Hill's William Cole Leaves Oklahoma St.

Postby Stallion » Sat Dec 27, 2008 3:31 pm

---would make an interesting Inside Receiver. I think he was Class 5A Player of the Year at QB basically running DeSoto to a championship.

Cole no longer with team
OSU sophomore receiver William Cole, who tore his ACL in August, is no longer with the team, coach Mike Gundy has said.
No reason has been given for Cole’s dismissal. It ends a checkered OSU career for Cole, a product of Cedar Hill, Texas, who began his career as a defensive back and quickly switched to offense. He had two receptions for seven yards in six games as a freshman.

If Cole chooses to transfer to another NCAA Division I program, he would have to sit out next season and would have two years of eligibility left. Should he go to a lower division program, he’ll have three seasons left.

He was amazing in high school. If his knee allows him to regain his speed and elusiveness, I would think he might be worth a look.

I agree with most of your analysis, Stallion, but I am pretty sure that Cole did not run DeSoto to a championship.

It's amazing how many Texas recruits sign with out-of-state

teams each year. Only later, to realize that they may have

made a mistake and decide to return home. The other side

of the fence is often not all it's cracked up to be :?

His performance in the state championship game was as dominate as I've ever seen. Forgot what school they were playing, but Cole was doing whatever he wanted.

If it helps us become known as a school that BCS athletes can transfer to, then I am all for it. Occasionally, one of those transfers will be worth it.

Abe
I was more being defeatist about transfers in general, everyone was excited about Odiari and look, you are familiar with Peruna's Razor, anything that can suck for SMU does.

Any update on Cole?

Here's a clip discussing his recruitment out of HS as a DB.
