Ok, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner in the other thread. I've seen Victor on multiple occasions. He gets it done for maybe the most historic hoops program in the country, Dematha. That said, he's about the 3rd or 4th most profile player on the roster, behind kids like Josh Selby(Tenn commit) etc. Simply, he's just the kind of kid, if Doh were to snag, that would help turn this around. He's athletic, plays great man D, can shoot the ball, and is generally very efficient. I'm not sure what his legit list of offers looks like, but my understanding is that its a lot longer then what Scout implies. Schools like Maryland, Va Tech, Umass, Providence have all offered, although I don't believe Maryland's is unconditional.
It's good to be mentioned w/kids like this. We're starting to see Doh really get his feet wet on the trail. Feels like he's just honing in on the type of kids he has a chance with, that also make sense for the program and raising its expectation level. I think its important to remeber that at his last stop it was all JUCOs and before that he was recruiting to UNC, Notre Dame and Kansas. May have taken him a minute to figure out what makes sense for this level and Olapido does

hard work on the recruiting trail by Doherty will eventually pay dividends. That's why even if the Sophmore Class is still not producing as hoped things are not as bleak as some want to suggest. What about his 2008 Class with Williams, McCoy, Otis and Faye-that's starting to look outstanding for a school like SMU. And some of the 2007 Class have shown flasges too like Nykundi, Dia last year, and others although not consistently. If Doherty recruits well for 4 years-and I mean Classes 2007-2011 I think the program will at least be at a level where the foundation will have been laid for a solid program. Give the guy the 4-5 years he needs a don't make snap judgments based on the play of 1st and second year players even if some are busts.

The new Maryland ESPN site has an article w/Olapido dated today. I'm friendly w/the folks over their and dropped a PM. In short, Olapido is picking up offers daily, the newest being from Xavier and Indiana. He has a pretty long list and we're basically never mentioned. I'd have to say the chances of landing Olapido and slim and none. He's having a very good year and just moved into Demathas starting line-up. Talk about high school depth...wow

Finally a voice of reason!
