8th ranked Pro Style QB in the Country out of High School. Rated 5.8 and 4 stars. A National Top 250 player-haven't sniffed one of those in awhile. He didn't play his freshman year due to injury from a car accident in 2007 so he probably would be a Junior after his transfer year.

Per Scout or per a poster on Scout? Slight diff.

One of many articles that made it clear that Hawaii and Miami were Marve's final two choices and that the distance Hawaii was from his family were a big factor in the decision. Marve only took 3 official recruiting trips and Hawaii had the last trip...his parents paid their own way to be with him on his visit.

Ultimately, Marve knew in his gut what the right choice was and, despite what June Jones might have to offer in picturesque Hawaii, he knew the place for him was right here in Florida.

And, for his mom, knowing her son was only a three-hour car ride away as opposed to a 10-hour or more plane excursion is a relief.

"Hawaii, of course, is a beautiful place and coach Jones is a wonderful man but we all felt it would be just too much," said Julie Marve.

Per the guy who runs that site, for what it's worth.

Thanks Horsepower,

I guess I should have been clearer. StampedeJames is the person running the Scout site.

Also. Randy Shannon has taken some of the restrictions off Marve's release. He took the SEC restriction off (with the exception of UF, LSU, and Tenn.), but he still is resticted from going to any ACC school or any school in Florida. We may have a good shot a gettng this young man. Here is the AP link regarding the restrictions changes.

Might as well go for it. And as usual, thanks for the good info Garrett.

The Miami source that I cited in the McNeal thread mentioned SMU as a possibility for Marve when I talked to him although he still called it a long shot.

Does anyone know what kind of relationship Shawnbrey McNeal has with Robert Marve form their time together at Miami?

I have heard that Marve did most of his socializing within his fraternity and that he developed somewhat of a reputation as a partyer on campus. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
