I know papawasamustang-I believe that's right-has been raving about all the players coming out of this league for awhile but it is getting very impressive-much better than in years past. I noticed that Roderick Fleming who once considered SMU but had Academic issues is now leading WAC in scoring at Hawaii. You also have the Ruzgas kid at TCU burning it up-(hit another buzzer beater last nite. You got Williams at SMU and guys at OU and all over the place. Maybe Doherty can find some immediate help in our backyard.

Below is are some comments I made in response to JC Hoops.

Indian Hills is always loaded with D1 prospects along with alot of talented JC's in Florida & Texas. Midland Tx is # 4 n the nation.
One of my favorite programs is Tyler Tx & they are #9.
Locally, Collin County Tx is # 15 in the country. Adam Brown, 6'3 shooting guard is having a great year averaging 18 pts per game, 84 FT %, 48% FG % and 50% FG % from the 3 point line( 95 attempts). I also like Gilbert Clavell-Lopez alot but he injured his shoulder earlier in the year & hasn't played much. He will be an excellent pickup for someone (serious attitude around the bucket)

I think you are right on the $ with your analysis of the situation.
I'm sure Doh must see the impact that the JC's have after the job Williams has done for us stablizing the PG position. The magnificent 7 approach just doesn't work @ a school like SMU unless you are just looking for a built in"we are young" excuse. It was a major mistake.
It should be a priority IMO to sign @ least one PF or C out of the JC ranks this year that can put the ball in the hole & rebound.
Last year I posted about how we needed to go over to Weatherford JC
& check out Ruzgas & Roderick Flemings (from Dallas & 1st team All American JC last season) & this year I have posted about the great JC program right down the road @ Collin County. The caliber of basketball played in the JC ranks in Texas is outstanding.
I hope that Lutz & Doh' are focused on 1 or 2 big time JC hoopsters out there.

If you can truly have a decent team that grows together for four years and has a good run every two years out of four, that is sometimes the best a mid-major can do especially in a conference which features Memphis. But an occasional juco can put you over the top. Look at George Mason the year they went to the final four. Mostly upperclassmen and one excellent freshman and I think one JUCO on the top seven. If you can get a bunch of solid role players who may not get to the NBA to buy into your system then as a mid-major program you can make some noise every now and then. Now when you start out with a pretty empty cupboard, it takes some time to get to the point that you have a solid 5-7 guys who fit and the right JUCO's can help with that.
