Yes. Apparently, PonyPride is reporting it about the Crockett athlete. He has offers from La, Tech, Baylor, Tulsa and SMU. The story on the cover page said 4.

What? I count Moore, Ja'connnico something and this kid? Are they counting Johnson staying with SMU as a commitment or what am I missing?

Thanks. He isn't posted on the list that I have seen on their site. That's why it didn't make sense.

Not disagreeing with either of you .... but how can you possibly make these claims? Until a few weeks ago, nobody had even heard of this guy. Maybe he's a superstar-in-waiting — we all certainly hope he is — but the euphoric predictions are getting a little carried away.

The "we're loaded at WR" talk is also premature. Sanders and Robinson are known studs. Willis got a lot better toward the end of last year. Beasley and Loftin showed flashes. Drewery is huge and promising, but we've never seen him in a game. Johnson looks awesome on tape — against high school competition. Chayse Joubert has outrageous athleticism stats, and minimal football stats. Deonte McDade played mostly RB.

I'm not saying these guys won't all be studs — hopefully we resemble the 1980s San Diego Chargers, with an army of stud receivers. All I'm saying is let's see what they can do first.

Why use logic Hoofprint when you can assure all recruits will be all everything on both sides of the ball. :P

Biggest Positive About This Year's "Pledge Class"-you've got to notice that SMU signed a much better group of athletes whose, height, speed and athleticism eventually project much better to the Division 1A Level than in most recent years. Some definitely need to redshirt and get into a weight and conditioning program but I'm pretty intriqued with the athleticism of this group. It looks pretty decent-not to be confused with outstanding. I think there is some nice building blocks at Receiver, OLM, DE and in the secondary-BUT why have we had to award so many scholarships at DB and WR over the last 2 years? See Below.

Biggest Disappointments-we failed fully address some of the biggest problems on the team-and I do mean BIGGEST problems:

1) QB-I still would like to improve the quality at the QB from top to bottom-plus we only have 3 QBs for next year. That's a gamble not too many Division 1A schools are willing to take. This offense requires top QBs and I would hope June Jones could get superior talent here-and I mean 4-5 deep. We need some "Pied Piper" QB recruits-they attract attention.
2) DT- disappointing-Marquis Frazier could be a steal but will not have played for 2 years and is recovering from major surgery. Where are the other guys? Yet we have signed it seems like 11 WRs and about 12 DBs in the last 2 classes. That concerns me especially since our best DT graduated-suggests that we have missed on WRs and DBs in recent years.
3) LB-doesn't look like any of these guys are really physically ready to jump in next year and help at a very mediocre position. Some will probably have to but LBs weighing 195-200 pounds are probably not ready. The LBs do have extreme quickness and speed though longterm but physically they are very small for D1A.
4) RB-Love McNeal-very leary if he isn't immediately eligible. The position is not well stocked 4-5 deep with quality D1A players. We are rolling the dice-have we improved ourselves at all at RB from one of the weakest positions on the team?

only JJ's first full year of recruiting... this thing isnt going to turn around in one year... hopefully after a year or two of improvement in the W column we will be able to seal the deal on guys like Kendial. I do like the amount of athletes Jones recruited, gives us the ability to move a lot of guys around and see where they fit in best. If anything this class seems to have A LOT OF SPEED (and as you mentioned in another thread McNeal could be a guy pushing 4.3, which is probably the first guy since KG with those kind of wheels). OUr LB's are extremely undersized, but we play in a pass heavy conference so I could see a those guys filling in nicely on 3rd down. As for QB, I hope BLM has been watching a lot of film... Padron could really use the year to be redshirted, although he is probably more prepared to lead this offense then BLM was as a true freshmen. I would suspect JJ focuses next years class on: DTs, MLB, QB, RB. Based on his reputation we should be able to sign at least 1-2 quality QB's every year. I really hope McNeal becomes a star at SMU and sparks some interest from some top rated RB's.
