Class of 2010: Texas with 8 commits already

WOW. No one does the Junior Day events like the Texas Longhorns. All 8 of these kids are very likely to be Top 25 caliber kids.

P.S. Looks like they are also in the mix for a kid that is being called the best runner in Texas high school football since Adrian Peterson (kids name is Lache Seastrunk). He picked up an offer from Texas but didnt commit this weekend. This will likely be a recruiting drama that will go down to signing day a year from now.

Lache is amazing. He reminds me more or what Noel Devine was probably like in high school. I remember watching his Highlight tapes posted on the rivals main page over a year ago from when he was a sophmore!

Hopefully you are not surprised that they have 8 commits already.

I thought it was 11 commits already...guess the recruiting services need to catch up a little.

6 out of 10 from the Metroplex which used to be the weakest area for Texas recruiting

The number is now up to 11. As a side note, one of the commitments is from current quarterback Colt McCoy's younger brother Case. The kid is listed by Rivals at 170 pounds, but was garnering serious interest from Florida and was being recruited personally by Urban Meyer. However, Texas also offered a quarterback from a private school down in Houston named Connor Wood. Wood is the more high profile recruit, but it appears Texas is going to take two quarterbacks this year. Not bad when you can land one of if not the best passing quarterback in the nation one year and follow that up with two of the state's top quarterbacks the next year.

This is troubling:

2010 Texas Top 100

QBs: 12
that list SMU: 1
with offers from SMU: 0
that list TC-who: 6
with offers from TC-who: 3

Conversely, we are the first one to offer FM Marcus RB Stephen Hopkins, who is having a great high school career. I would be surprised if some BCS schools didn't start offering him this year.

And... who is committing to TCU it is a lot more relevant to SMU than who is committing to UT since you play the Frogs every year and compete for a lot more of the same recruits.
