Samoa News feature on Beck Coulter choosing SMU

This is very good publicity for SMU in Samoa. As a Hawaii fan, I'm not happy with an athlete from Samoa choosing SMU over Hawaii, but I wish Beck the best in his college career.

I believe it was San Jose State, Colorado and Penn State.

Penn State has been very aggressive about recruiting in Samoa, but they haven't been having success with recruits from there. Colorado has a lot of Polynesian athletes and I knew a fair number of students from Hawaii there. San Jose State is coached by a longtime Hawaii head coach (Tomey, who left Hawaii to coach Arizona).

June sounded very high on this kid during the Signing Day event. Isn't this the kid that might have some issues qualifying?

Have to agree. Not the kind of problem we have had in the past.
