Kid's name is Myles Luttman. He averages 5 and 5 last year. Here's a couple links that might be helpful:

He looks like he has good size, but is unproven it seems stats wise. I wouldn't mind picking up the sophomore F Thomas Malcolm who averaged 21 and 13...

He also averaged 2 ppg as a Freshman at an NAIA school San Diego Christian College. The stats above were from San Diego City College a JUCO. And he's a Brit!

man...glad we went all the way to California to get him. Seriously, I'm sure Northlake or Clarendon or Panola or Angelina had a tall guy who averaged 5 and 5 that we couldve signed without having to drag someone all the way back from California.
Oh how our recruiting has gone into the tank. I thought we were gonna see improvement, what with the changes to our model etc. And the Crum Center. And the biga$$ scoreboard in Moody.

I think Doherty just wanted to take a Spring break trip to San Diego and a European vacation to England and Croatia rather than recruiting the DeSoto, Duncanville, and South Dallas areas

He did make the list of the Top 300 JUCOs in California(Honorable Mention which means he wasn't one of the Top 100 JUCOs in California).

Definitely has good size, he was on campus last weekend, and there is no denying he's a big kid. He looks ALOT like Chief Kickingstallionsims, if you remember him from the games with Alabama State.
He played for a pretty good jc team, they had a strong season and sent several kids on to lower level 4-year schools. Their best player signed with San Diego State (Thomas Malcolm, mentioned above). What worries me a bit is that Luttman was 3rd on the team in rebounding, and the guy in front of him was only 6'0" tall. He shouldnt be outrebounded by the point guard on his own team (Marquintice Davis, signed with Cal State- Dominguez Hills, a D2 school).
Honestly dont know anything else about him, but he did have some size.

Well, obviously not much is known about this guy, other than he looks the part, his size and build is pretty much what you want your center to look like, and we have not had someone built like this at SMU in a long time, we have had some tall guys, but they did not have the body muscle to go along with it.
Having said that, his stats obviously do not match his physical appearance and you would think that a guy built like that should dominate and that has not been the case, not sure if he is just learning the game, gets 3 fouls in the first 5 minutes each game, or they ran some kind of funky offense where he wasn't around the basket, or despite his looks, he is uncoordinated and simply cannot play.
I still feel Doherty is a great evalutor of talent and there had to be something about this guy that he liked, so I am going to give it a shot.
Doh knows this is his make or break season, he needs to challenge for the top of the conference or he will be replaced, lets see how it goes, and if it doesn't, I will hold the door for him as Orsini kicks him out of it, until then though, I am giving him his shot to see what he can do and really hope he succeeds.

I am so underwhelmed by this commitment.
We will have a new coach in 2010-2011
