5. Which mid-major programs will make noise during the late signing period?

This late period is a very important one for mid-major schools. It gives these programs a chance to add players who showed steady improvement during the high school season.

The mid-major that has made the most noise in recent weeks is Central Florida. The Knights recently got verbals from shooting guards Marcus Jordan (Chicago/Whitney Young) and Nik Garcia (Evanston, Ill./Township). These guards, along with early signee PF Keith Clanton, give the Knights a special class.

Rice had a solid early haul that was highlighted by combo forward Arsalan Kazemi (Lenoir, N.C./The Patterson School). The Owls' class got stronger with the recent addition of A.J. Holland (Cottondale, Ala./Bryant). The sixth commit in Rice's 09 class, Holland is a point guard with playmaking ability.

Ohio University's recent addition gives the Bobcats a class with talent and depth. Ivo Baltic (Riverside, Mo./Park Hill South) is a 6-7 power forward who can face up and beat the opponents with his jumper and dribble. Ohio is also reportedly locked in on Providence transfer and Ohio native Alex Kellogg.

And neither one of them signed a Dallas area kid, Rice only had 1 houston kid and UCF had 1 Orlando kid and everyone else was "foreign"

Can you list all of the impact players that Doherty has brought to this program?

When did I mention Doh? All I said was these are 2 programs in our conference talking about impact recruits, none of which are from the programs metro area. It is a commentary on people thinking you have to recruit from your own area to get good players, which seems to not be true.

I don't disagree with that theory. But when your impact locally is so poor like Doherty's that most likely tells you how he is thought of in the area by players and coaches.

How many local kids have signed since the 2007 group?

None since 2007, how many kids for Houston did UH sign in that time...also none and yet they are still a pretty good team in this conference

That's an indictment on Penders who can't get into that area. Yeah, they're better than us. That doesn't take much But if you're UH and you can't get a top 15-20 kid in your backyard, especially with the wealth of talent running around that area, then that's bad.

And given that program's tradition, I don't think consecutive trips to the CBI isn't really going well with administration.

Let's just say 2009-2010 is going to be make or break for Penders.

Are you capable of posting something other than 1 or 2 sarcastic lines about bashing local recruiting? I get it!
