Thanks for pointing this out, it was good to hear June...to paraphrase, "put fans in the seat by first getting an exciting offense--the fans will tolerate losing 45-42 for a short while, then later build your defense to win championships"

I like his response about UT and OU getting dibs on the 1st and 2nd recruits leaving us and other schools with Texas leftovers.
"there are so many kids in this state that can play..... there is no question in my mind that I can compete with Texas with the 3rd and 4th players if you give me 2 or 3 years. Instead of being 6'4" WR they are 6' WR that run 4.4's, we can still win with those guys"

but can he compete with Texas with the 12-14th best players in Texas at a position. And quite frankly that is very charitable as to the quality of recruits we are getting at SMU. Few of the players SMU has gotten in his first 2 1/2 years even fit that description.

Darrius Johnson is one of those players who would have been a Texas, OU, USC target had he been taller. It looks like Darrius Johnson could start at the 3rd receiver spot this year, or at the very least, play alot. Who are the kickoff and punt returners going to be this year?

he is well into his 3rd recruiting class...i do not think it is fair to evaluate him on his first class. He was named HC, what a few weeks before signing day?

3rd year? BS, like asking Stallion to take the Law Boards after ten days in school...of course it might not have mattered if it were three years or two weeks his scores would be the same. This is JJ's second year of recruiting for SMU, to say three years is simply unfair. He has been here for 17 months, had tens days for his first class and a year for his second; this recruiting year is only four months into the year. From my standpoint next February 2010 will be his second recruiting year.

This is getting so old...Lets just see how the season plays out..If JJ can win(Anything close to 500) with the recruits he was given then I think we can throw the rivals rankings out the window.
Until that time Stallion will still be both a [deleted] and right...
I still believe JJ was the right hire and will be successful..

Good interview, sure wish June had a little confidence though.
