I think you omitted a few pertinent facts: "The Indianapolis native was considering Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Indiana and UCLA."

Lets be honest...College Basketball will never be the same. Most upper echelon high school basketball players realize that college ball is a 1 year mandatory stop before they can declare for the NBA draft.
That being said, Coach Doh will have a hard time recruiting players like this one to come to SMU because..well.. we aren't a perennial Final Four team.
The landscape is different.

Hmmm. He clearly states that he is going there for Isiah Thomas (who is a loser btw).
Kind of a dumb move b/c he won't get hardly any TV time I would suspect.

Where to start. Big Ten basketbal gets on TV pretty often. Add in that they also get coverage throughout the midwest including on Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Detroit TV markets. Let's see that's four cities with NBA franchises. If you can make a splash in the Big Ten in basketball, you have a future.

TV & exposure means nothing these days. It's not like scouts need to be told who Ferguson is. You can grab these kids to play at a lower level like SMU, just prepare to cheat. It's no secret that Memphis, UNLV back in the day, and now schools like FIU, play fast & loose to be competitive.

Wow and he selected FIU. I guess Isiah Thomas is hitting the recruiting hard.

Sorry, I thought he went to Indiana. My bad. Forgot Isaiah Thomas was now with FIU. He's a former NBA coach and GM, he can fill a kid up with Hoop Dreams better than most I suspect.
