Note that the Longview team which was Preseason 4A No. 1 which Tyler John Tyler handled in that scrimmage last week defeated defending 5A Champ Allen tonite 28-25. Texas High was rated no. 12 in 4A. So TJT looks pretty tough this year.

Wow! Really impressed with the numbers both Collins and Johnson put up, particularly Johnson. 75% completion percentage for an "athlete" is pretty good. Looking forward to watching these guys hopefully continue to put up big numbers. GO PONIES!

Good Friends dad who is the announcer for Texas High, says the Johnson kid can do it all and is the real deal. Considering the amount of great athletes that have come out of that school, this is high praise.

Comment from Texas Football-(but surprised he wasn't chosen as nominee for Player of the Week):
Tyler John Tyler (5A) at No. 12 Texarkana Texas High: Tyler John Tyler, 41-17
QB Jeremy Johnson has gotten a lot of hype this year for John Tyler, and people have called the gifted athlete a Vince Young kind of player. Well, Johnson sure made the most of the comparisons, totaling 324 yards of offense and scoring four touchdowns in a big upset of ranked 4A Texas High. The rout was on early, as Tyler scored twice in its first six plays.

Jeremy Johnson was the star of the show again with 12-16 passing for 153 yards including a 68 yard TD pass to Rickey Collins. Johnson added another 152 yards rushing on 20 carries and added another TD run of 12 yards. Collins ended with 2 catches for 68 yards. Sounds like Jeremy Johnson could be your Wild Mustang. Both this year and last he is an extremely accurate passer.

I saw highlites of this game on Fox Sports Southwest-and I think that 68 yard TD to Rickey Collins might have been about 18 yards not 68.

Tyler JT/ Lufkin Game Story focusing on Johnson. The TD catch to Rickey Collins was 15 yards-must have had another catch for 53.

Texas Football comments again on TJT's big victory-Jeremy Johnson again is playing as well anyone in the State of Texas but for the second week in a row is not nominated for POW
UPSET WATCH:
Lufkin at Tyler John Tyler: Tyler John Tyler, 27-18
Now this pick I DO get credit for. After John Tyler's impressive season-opening performance against Texas High, I just had a feeling that we'd see lightning strike twice way out East. That's two upset wins in a row, and QB Jeremy Johnson is surely living up to the Vince Young comparisons people were making in the preseason. His 300+ yards of total offense proved to be the difference this weekend, and the poise he showed all game brought JT back from a 12-7 halftime deficit.
